New user...first post. Question about EVH Wolfgang Special

Hello fellow guitar enthusiasts.
I'm a new member, but have been playing guitar for a while. I'll make my introduction short and sweet.
I own several guitars, mostly hot rod strat type but also own 2 Wolfgangs. One is an older model from Peavey and the other is a newer model from the Fender/EVH brand. I have always used Seymour Duncan pickups and love them. Which leads me to my question. I would like to swap out the bridge pickup in my newer Wolfgang for an SD JB (or similar). As you know, the wolfgang pups are direct mount to body and have no bezel on them. I was wondering if the size of a normal humbucker is universal and if a JB would fit in the hole that the current pup is in? I have searched online for the answer but have come up short, which is why I'm here.
Can someone help me with my question?
Much thanks for all who input!

Re: New user...first post. Question about EVH Wolfgang Special

It should indeed fit. I am unfamiliar with direct-mounted electronics and cannot give you a good suggestion as to how to actually mount them since any other pickup will come stock with adjustment screws that work with a pickguard or mounting ring.

Also, there is a pickup specific sub-forum on this website.

Welcome!

Re: New user...first post. Question about EVH Wolfgang Special

There are two (maybe 3) standard humbucker widths. I'm not 100% sure, but the stock pickup is probably trem-spaced since most Wolfgangs have Floyds.

Doesn't the Wolfgang have the round tabs where the Duncans are square?

Can you believe that a few years ago some Ibanez models with direct-mounted pickups came with triangle-shaped pickup cavity? Another score for DiMarzio.

I had a 3120 with that cavity route. I had to shave off the mounts with a grinder for a Duncan to fit. Not a huge ordeal, especially if we love our Duncans :)

I mounted a Full Shred neck and a Custom trembucker in a direct-mount Jackson Dinky. I drilled out the threaded holes in the tabs.
