I've always wanted one of these, but never got one.... Hmmm
Then damned Reverb showed me a completely naked one for a reasonable price tag... I made an offer and double checked my credit card limit. The guy bit on the offer.

Here's her naked and being turned into the rockstar that she now is.
Took me an hour and a half start to finish.

All the wiring I wanted to do. 1 vol knob and that's it!

She was born with robot tuners, so I had to drill for this set off my old SG.

Hardware off one of my other Les Pauls I think an aluminum tailpiece.

This is a 2016 Les Paul Studio HP.
Slightly wider flatter neck
Titanium zero fret adjustable nut
Feels like medium frets, I'll have to check online
I put a brand new Seymour Duncan TB6 Distortion in it and right from the start it sounds glorious! !!
Bright and piercing! With LP Bawllllss!
It's pretty light so it must have modern weight relief.
Pleked.
Some kind of special heel for soloing..

Titanium zero fret nut, wider neck, single volume? I'm interested!

To be honest, I bought it before I even knew what an HP was. Did some research while it was in transit.
I can hear the titanium nut now that it's rocking. It's interesting.
Also the heel is amazing! Didn't know about that either! Feels slick!

Yeah those 2015-18 years were pretty bad for Gibson's image amongst the masses, but I thought they still made pretty fine guitars. But to be honest, you're probably lucky that it came to you stripped. Saved you from having to yank out the PCB internals and robo tuners. I love zero frets though, so it's a good thing you got to keep that

Agree, I generally take all that stuff out anyhow.
I wouldn't have kept robo tuners for sure.
I may experiment with different pups and pots in this one until I settle on whatever I think sounds best iny world.

I wonder if there's anything you could do to darken the fretboard. It's just a few shades too light to match well with the dark red of the body.

Looks like a little fretboard oil might do the trick, it looks a lil dry, but that may just be the light

Looks very cool! Congrats! I bet it sounds killer with the TB6 too.

It'd probably be more popular if they used it on any other guitar brand other than Gibson, LOL.

Well, a few companies do use it, and there are aftermarket ones that add a zero fret.

I hit it with the Dr Kysers Lem-oil, which I do to every fretboard,. It darkens some of them up, but I think these are rosewood and you get what you get.

When I got home today I swapped in a set of Burstbuckers, bb2 and bb3.
They actually sound a perfect amount of more tame and chunky.
I love the aesthetic much more too.

I ordered some chrome gotoh keystone tuners and a chrome truss rod cover, we'll see how that looks by this weekend.
