There's a slight differences due to the sampling rate but the additional tweakability in the 60/120 makes up for it. The speaker has A LOT to do with it too. The speaker in the AD30 doesn't sound so great, to my ears anyway, but the AD50 sounds wonderful with that 12" Celestion. I played the same JCM800 factory preset model in the AD50 against the 60 and couldn't tell a difference, other than what affects they packaged it with in the preset. The tone was the same to me.KGMESSIER said:But are the tones comparable, or does the 15/30/50/100 have the edge because of the sampling rate?
Mr. B said:Look at the price tags on the amps. That should tell you how much more amp you're getting with the AD60VTX / AD120VTX line. There is a world of difference.

KGMESSIER said:How would you be using the amp (i.e., in what settings, at what levels, etc.)?
ErikH said:With the AD50, you won't need your pedals. THe cleans are good. There's the Boutique CL model and the Blackface 2x12 (which is the Twin). The Tweed 4x10 is the Bassman model and is beautiful clean, same with the Vox AC15. I used to use a Booster out front but lately I'm not using anything, just the models on the amp. All I have out front is the dual footswitch. I get plenty of gain from the other models, UK 80's, US High Gain.
You got the UK 80's right. The US High Gain = Soldano SLO. The Mesa is the Numetal patch. It's OK but the US High Gain kills it. There's also UK Modern which is a TSL. Both Boutique patches (the CL and OD) are supposedly Dumbles.fretburner said:UK 80's = JCM800? and US High Gain = Mesa Dual Rectifier?
I guess i will have to A/B those mods against my beloved Shredmaster![]()
