Newest Vox Valvetronix?

You got the UK 80's right. The US High Gain = Soldano SLO. The Mesa is the Numetal patch. It's OK but the US High Gain kills it. There's also UK Modern which is a TSL. Both Boutique patches (the CL and OD) are supposedly Dumbles.

Cool. I get to have 2 dumbles for $359. Haha!

Anyway, I already asked the local distributor about their prices and it seems that they're selling it at around $450. Damn.

By the way, if I use the Blackface model for cleans, and then UK 80's for dirt, can I use different EQ settings for it?

Yup. All the knob settings -- this includes amp model, volume, gain, EQ and effects -- are saved in a patch.

Sure can. Just save each of them in one of the two presets. The only setting not saved is the Master Volume setting. Everything else is.

The exception is Manual mode. As you change the EQ there, when you change the model, the current EQ settings apply. Makes sense?

$450 is still a good deal. They're probably making up for the import fees there.

Yeah, but the thing is, they sell their products at US retail prices when they have a "sale" - which they will have this October. But when I asked, they said they're probably not going to put it on "sale" because it's new. Bah.

Also, I don't think these amps are made in the UK? If they're made in China, then we could be even cheaper or at least comparable to US retail prices. The retailer of Laneys and Peaveys here sells at US retail prices.

What's the customs charges like to get one shipped from here?

They're made in Vietnam actually. Says so right on the back. The box is nice and solid actually. I had popped the back off to check what tube came in it and the speaker. Nicely built.

I dunno. But when I bought a pair of duncans, I was charged like 18% of the cost of merchandise. I'm glad my cousin paid for shipping. Shipping things those size can easilly fetch $150 (I think).

I guess I will have to wait it out. But as soon as they have it on the store nearby, I'm gonna try it out for sure, and A/B versus the Behringer LX112 ($230 right now).

Re: Newest Vox Valvetronix?

Normally, I buy tube amps used. I think it's better to buy digital modeling amps new. It may cost a little more, but at least there's a warrantee. If they stop working, only the manufacturer can fix them, and they charge a lot if you don't have a warranty.

Re: Newest Vox Valvetronix?

Not all Valvetonix are built in the same factory My AD 100 was made in Korea, some models are built in China And some in Vietnam.
I use Boutique OD for my lead tone Boutique CL for Crunch and the Vox Ac30 for my clean tones If these Dumble mods are anything to go by the 'real' amps must be awesome but not $20,000 awesome:no:

Re: Newest Vox Valvetronix?

I can't imagine any amp being $20,000 awesome. It better be capable of giving me a happy ending at the end of each song.

Re: Newest Vox Valvetronix?

Your right but Howard Dumble has only made around 200 amps so they are pretty rare. The lead tone on Santana's Smooth was one of his dumble's (apparently he's got three) but live he mixes a dumble with a Massa Mk 1

Re: Newest Vox Valvetronix?

Wasn't aware they were making them in 3 different places. Makes sense if the demand is there and apparently it is. I love mine. I'm getting tones that I have heard in my head but never quite got 100% translated through my hands.
