NGD: 2 for the trade of 1

Hey guys.

I've had a USA Strat for a while now that I used a lot when I was in my originals band up until 4 years ago but haven't used much since, so when I saw these upfor trade I offered my Strat up and a deal was struck:




They're both MIA Peavey Wolfgang Specials, unsure of age etc and both are in decent condition with the usual playing scuffs etc.

They both need a good clean up and re-stringing, 10s on the white 1 in Standard tuning for my Punk/Rock band and 11s on the black 1 in Eb tuning for my 80s/90s Rock but otherwise I'm very happy with them.

The guy I got them off was under the impression from the guy he got them from that the black 1 had some sort of Peavey 'Custom shop' pickups in as apparently Wolfgang pickups only come in Zebra. How true that is I don't know, but if I don't like it plugged into my main rig I have a set of purple Dimarzio Evos I think might work in their place

The white 1 sounds better to me than the black 1 does, so I think there may be some truth in the fact that the pickups in the black 1 aren't stock.

I have a set of Evos knocking around I might chuck in the black 1 and a Super Distortion I may put in the white 1. Early days yet though so I'm not going to get too ahead of myself with pickup swaps just yet!

Awesome! Congrats! When a local store went belly up here yrs ago, a bud of mine bought one like your white one and it is a killer axe. it was flat top and no frills, but played great and got that EVH Wolfgang sound in spades.

I'll be using it Thursday and Friday with the band that 1s intended for, so I'll see how I go

I've heard the Peavey Wolfie's are purty good. I have a Peavey Raptor I and the build quality on it is pretty good (even if it was manufactured overseas).

Used the black 1 in Eb through my Splawn for the 80s rock band last night and the white 1 in E standard through my SLO Clone for the punk rock band tonight and really liked both

A former associate of mine had both a Wolfgang Special and the full-on, maple capped signature model. To the best of my recollection, the EVH-endorsed pickups were "Custom Shop" inasmuchas they were developed to Eddie's requirements and sold exclusively on the actual guitars, never as an aftermarket item.

The humbuckers that I saw on the sig model were cream/black and mounted directly into the wood of the guitar body. I never worked on my associate's Special. I cannot honestly remember what pickups it (supposedly) had or what colour they were. Apart from the metal hardware, that entire guitar seemed to be black.
