NGD about 3 weeks late

About 6 years ago I figured out my dream guitar was a white explorer with the cosmetics of a les Paul custom. I had a semi local shop try to price one. Gibson flat out said no and if they did it would be about 5 grand. Fast forward a little the the Lzzy hale model came out. Not a fan of halestorm really so I couldn’t justify the money. Then the Epiphone came out I saw my shot and snagged one.
I plan on changing the knobs, Pickguard, and pickup rings to black.
Out of the box it’s not a bad guitar frets are pretty good the neck is chunky. The stock pickups aren’t bad but I will change them to something hotter. The only issues I have had is the input jack went out after a week and some of the fret ends were kind of sharp. Weight wise it’s just under 8 pounds.

It is absolutely gorgeous but I thought you were looking for something lighter?

Re: NGD about 3 weeks late

If I stay under 8 pounds it seems to work out ok. I was guessing about the weight. I put it on our bathroom scales not sure if it weighs guitars right lol. But it read 7lbs 8ozs

Gorgeous guitar. I'm excited to see what it'll look like with those black accents (knobs, rings, pick guard). Are you going to replace all the gold hardware with black as well (tuners, bridge/tail, etc.)?

Re: NGD about 3 weeks late

The Pickguard is going to be the biggest pain to find. The stock guard is nothing but painted plexiglass. I haven’t decided if I’m going to change the bridge and tailpiece or not. I thought about leaving them and the gold screws as accents.

It'll probably look something like this when done:

The guard ended up being impossible to find, so I sent the original to Pickguardian and had him make me a new one in 4-ply black.
