I know this one goes against the grain for many although I'm not ashamed to say I've wanted one for years. This one is a fantastic condition year 2000 model and I have to say that it plays, feels and sounds absolutely awesome. I love the colour, I prefer this classic model because of the full scratchplate and jack position and I even like the headstock. I drove a round trip of nearly 300 miles to get it for a great price even though I didn't get home until the early hours of Thursday morning..... it was well worth it! So here it is....... the Beast

I had one and couldn't get on with the neck but it sounded amazing.

Going to be a great xmas for you mate, congrats.

That headstock makes the G&L one look stylish!! Congrats Don, stunning guitar!

Have not seen one of those before and really dig the look; reminds me of fire / hot lava. I can see how a traditionalist may not be a fan of that headstock if they have a pre-concevied image of a fender in their head but that guitar is far from traditional. If I had the spare cash I would have driven the 300 miles for the right deal on that as well. Congrats and play it in good health!

I had an ad in the email earlier today with a couple of those on. The headstock puts me off slightly, but I love those finishes.

Cheers fellas, I can understand the resistance to the headstock but I honestly like it. I have just got back from its first gig duty and all I can say is WOW. It really is a monster, the pick up configuration although seemingly a conventional HSS is so versatile I can't get my head around it. This guitar fits in with my current crop very nicely as it's more than an equal to any, it's a real joy to play. I could see my band mates ears prick up as soon as fired up because it sounded so good. Not many guitars left on my bucket list now thankfully and I'm in a very happy place and happy with my lot. I haven't ever seen another classic in the Burning water finish over here only the studio models so it's a bonus. Also, considering this guitar is a month shy of 15 years old the condition is outstanding. Here a crap pic from tonight's gig

Change the neck pickup cover to white as well, it's a Tyler trademark and looks fantastic.
Parchment would probably look best and I have a couple of covers you can have if you like, assuming they're real singles ?

Cheers mate that's a great idea and very kind of you. Well I've had a quick look and the singles are SD stacks, are those covers changeable? Also the bridge bucker is a SD TB and measures 9.7k but no label so I'm wondering what it is? Other info is that I also took the neck off and found that it's marked NAMM#4 which suggests it was built for NAMM 2000. Looking at the bare wood in the neck pocket it's Ash or Alder

It's likely that the humbucker is the famous Duncan Custom Shop Landau.
Does it have single coil like characteristics ?
I have the Tyler made and its my favourite humbucker.

If they're stacks my covers won't fit, sorry mate.

Thanks for the info and the offer though, very much appreciated. So do you know if the covers can be changed on the stacks? If I'm honest im really impressed with how good they sound and yes the humbucker does have a very clear sound.... It's actually similar to a Brobucker which is my favourite bucker anyway!

Love the headstock, love the guitar.

Say, I'm curious about these 'boutique' Strat brands: Anderson, Suhr, Tyler... I played a Suhr once YEARS ago and it was basically bright and not much else. How is the Tyler sounding? I'm still looking for 'that' ballsy as hell Strat tone...

Pierre. Well I have to say it's a beast, the humbucker measures 10k and really sings and the singles are SD stacks although I should have made a note. However I think they must be vintage as you can cop a nice meaty, thick SRV tone with plenty of quack. The SD bridge is wired straight to the volume so no tone but it's a killer sound. I can't say enough good things about this guitar, none of my guitars are dogs but this one is very special.
