NGD, Birth Year Guitar

So today I traded a PRS SE I got in July for $480.
I traded it for a 1997 USA Fender Stratocaster (year I was born)
I decided a few months ago that I should really get a strat. So when I was made this offer on Friday, I couldn't resist.

It no longer has it's original neck (it needs fret repairs) but the guy had a stew mac neck he attached for me to keep (and I have the original neck too)
Plays like a charm. Even takes high gain nicely.

Sweet ! It's nice to own a guitar made the year you were born….. now, if I could get my hands on a '75 T-Bird

Re: NGD, Birth Year Guitar

So I just got an email back from Fender, found out that the neck was produced around my birth in '97 and then the rest was assembled in February '98. It is an American Standard model (like I thought) and interestingly the tuners were made by Schaller for Fender.
Otherwise, it's a pretty standard Standard lol
I honestly would want one of the 2015 LP 100annv Studios but the price just isn't worth it now, and I love LPs.

Nice guitar. My birth year Strat would cost me Mercedes money.

Re: NGD, Birth Year Guitar

I'm still saving for mine. It keeps going up before I can catch up.

I want a 1991 40th anniversary les paul like you wouldn't believe
'91 also?

I'd be happy with either just a '91 Les Paul Custom, or any Les Paul that is dated right to my birth date.

But the Les Paul I ended up with had a serial that traced to the very day Les Paul himself died...

The ultra-wide necks on the 2015s wasn't a turn-off for you?

Re: NGD, Birth Year Guitar

I had a Birth Year Boat a few years ago. It was a 1962 Alumaweld. LOL
Hope you play the $h1t out that guitar!

Re: NGD, Birth Year Guitar

I'm still really jealous of this haha, I had a birth year strat that I loved to death until the day I needed money to pay for my sons bills. Great score man!

Re: NGD, Birth Year Guitar

I'm guessing that anything manufactured in '67 would be prohibitively expensive.

Actually some of the lower line Fenders can be had decently reasonable... and you can find things like Kay or Kent or Silvertone from that year pretty cheap.

Re: NGD, Birth Year Guitar

I guess I would have to go with a Tele...no Strats or Les pauls yet. (1951). Love to have a '51 Tele, Broadcaster, Esquire or Nocaster.......

Re: NGD, Birth Year Guitar

Fun idea. I should look for something made in 1985, but I guess I'd be pretty limited to neon superstrats...

Re: NGD, Birth Year Guitar

Nice. I've got a Marshall JMP stamped 4 days prior to my actual birthday. Does add some sentimental value as I'm very reluctant to have it modded for an fx loop. Probably never will.
