If the locking nut puts certain strings out of tune, just tune them off a bit to compensate before locking the nut, there's no magic in it and there's no need for the retainer.
Or you could use the micro tuners.![]()
Well he did say the micro tuners lacked range as the nut put the strings too far out of tune.

That's what I'm doing now. I would still like a retainer though, haha.yeah then you unlock it, back the microtuner out, tune normally, lock and begin again.
