NGD Gibson LP Classic

im not small or weak but i dont like anything on my shoulder over about 9lbs for a show and you also have the $2k refund. if hes gonna play the studio more and likes it better, that $2k could be spent on other fun things like spandex and wigs and glitter

Yes, Spandex is comfortable and Glitter is fun. But that guitar? Dayum!

Ha! All true statements. But…

Found a better guitar for a lot less.

Agree, though, that guitar was hot.

my 2014 Les Paul Classic is 10 lbs. It's a heavy beast. I love it though. Most of my friends do not like the weight.

I cant(won't) buy a Les Paul over 9.5lbs. I actually try to keep them under 9 lbs but buy will go up another half pound if it is a beauty! My standard faded 50's comes in just barely under 9 lbs!

Pretty sure my Tribute is under 9 pounds. I wouldn't be surprised if under 8 either.

My Epi is MUCH heavier, but my Epi isn't weight-relieved either. It's not the heaviest Les Paul I've held either.

I usually like holding a heavy guitar. Gives me a sense of security. But the lighter ones usually tend to sound the best to me.

Oh... just noticed it's a necrobumped thread.

I like lighter guitars for what they do to my shoulder, but my favourite sounding guitars have all been a little on the heavy side. They tend to be a little more focused than light guitars.

By "focused" do you mean that they have a stronger mid range with fewer overtones?

If so, my experience is just the opposite. The reason my guitars are so heavily chambered (besides giving them a weight of 6 lbs) is because of the more pure/precise tone.

They all sound different IME. But what I've noticed with mine is they tend to respond to pickup swaps better since most of them are usually lively and LOUD acoustically. Maybe I've just had good luck, though.

Hard to describe in words. Not so much in the mid range, something in the highs? Like the highs feel sharper to me and less airy than the lighter weight guitars.
