Re: NGD: Gibson LP.. Nah, just kidding! A Chibson.
Well, I ended up going the Chinese copy route for a reason. I'm going to upgrade the hell out of it and make it a working man's LP copy. I know it's fake and I don't even intend on passing it off as a real Gibby. All that matters is it has the name on the headstock, and it plays and sounds ok. It's actually on par with a Chinese Epiphone, and it looks to have come from the same factory. I traded my LTD for this one, as I felt like I wanted to see all the hubbub about Chinese LPs.

I'm going to try and put this as nicely as possible.
You care about the name on the headstock, but don't intend on passing it off as a real Gibson. Those are directly contradictory statements. You want the image of a real Gibson, but don't want to pass it off as a real Gibson. Those two motives work against each other.
Look, I get it. There is an instant gratification in buying new guitars, to have something new in your hands. But I strongly suggest you start re-thinking these things, and begin to start thinking much more in the long term. Don't make decisions just to get instant gratification - that can lead you to a whole lot of trouble - but start thinking hard about long term consequences, and act upon careful consideration. I completely understand wanting to modify things, I've been there A LOT, but unless you have a specific goal or problem with a solution, you will only be disappointed with mods, and keep running in circles (believe me, I've been there
a lot). If you saved all of the money you spent on new guitars within the past month, you'd have at least one really nice guitar today (that you could mod, but not need to butcher - only fine tuning to get it to your liking). You wouldn't need to settle for less. Trade offs exist, and are an everyday part of making responsible decisions. Start considering them. A lot.
