NGD: Heritage

Wattage

High Voltologist
Got a great deal so I couldn't pass on it.

1986 Heritage H170CM

Skinny neck, wired for splits with a killswitch and had the armrest added. Not sure when but it was ordered for someone specifically so some of the add-ons may be factory?

Re: NGD: Heritage

I like it, the neck is little thin for me but it has the coolest piece of rosewood on it, have to try and get some pics of it. It has these cool swirls, nice and dark too.

The pups sound real good in full mode, not digging the split sounds much though. Heading out to practice in a few so I'll run it thru the Orange, that'll tell me what I need to know.

I like the look with the armrest but it is annoying so it's already in a parts bag. I also forgot just how good real nickel Grovers are.

Re: NGD: Heritage

So how much are you going to sell it for?

Oh wait... wrong user.

Congrats dude, that looks awesome!

Wattage, you know what I've always appreciated about you? You know what you like and it's not the same old, same old stuff every one else uses. You've got your thing and it's great. There's something kinda quirky about this one, but I can completely see you owning it and really making it yours.

Re: NGD: Heritage

Oh I'll sell it if the price is right but not for now (I'm surprised Brent didn't chime in actually). I had a late 80's Heritage LP that was a monster guitar but weighed a ton. Always wished I'd kept it since I didn't think I'd get another Heritage any time soon but the weight was a bummer, I never really felt comfortable with it nice as it was.

So the killswitch will be removed asap, I must've turned the damn thing off every time I went to change pickups, PITA! It's a good idea with horrible placement. The input jack needs a cleaning, I didn't notice at the house but moving around it was cutting out. I am sure it is just oxidation since the guitar was sitting a while. I need to clean the case out, it's a little moldy/musty smelling.

The armrest was held on with 2 little brackets to keep it off the body. The 2 small holes for it are on the side and go thru the binding. I am thinking I can get that patched up pretty easily with some side marker dots and a little lacquer.

The skinny neck which I wasn't sure about is fine. Sitting down it bothered me a little, once I had it on the strap it wasn't an issue. It is a decent weight even though it is a thinner (and slightly smaller) body than an LP but hangs really well and was more than comfortable. It'll take a little getting used to but that's all right I kind of really like this thing. Cleaned it up nice and put on a set of Roto Nickel 11's put on some straplocks and it was more than good to go.

Kind of cool bonus - pretty sure this was originally sold thru my friend's old shop when they were Heritage dealers. So it's a little bit of full circle kind of thing

My original Heritage back in the day.

Thanks I definitely like guitars that are a little out of the mainstream. Mostly I just like guitars. Guitars and that Shake Weight gif hehe!

Re: NGD: Heritage

nice score man! that arm rest is total eye sore on an otherwise Purdy instrument

NGD: Heritage

Melt the armrest in acetone and use a couple drops of the resulting goo to patch the holes in the binding. Two birds/one stone kinda deal.

To all you who are confusing Scott with Brent, I think the real question is, when will he sand it down to bare wood, and repaint it with metal flake from rattlecans? LOL
