NGD: Maybe the last for a while.....

Re: NGD: Maybe the last for a while.....

I will look into this at some point. Like I said the finis was total crap and peeling off from sunlight damage. When I say crap, I mean it considering you could literally flick paint off with your fingernail. I will more than likely refinish it in the red and then poly back over it to give it that nice new gloss look. The Floyd that came out of it was an Original (made in Germany stamped on it) the body, however, didn't look like it was routed for a Floyd. My ibanez has the edge III and its routed underneath it to be s floating trem. The akira isn't routed to be floating, it's routed for more of a classic fender style trem looks like to me.

Re: NGD: Maybe the last for a while.....

could just be a top mounted Floyd instead of a recessed one

That would be consistent with the time. Ed's was that way, so Akira's was that way. As well I think the first recessed Floyd-type trem route was Steve Vai's "Lion Claw" in '87 or '88, so there's that.

If it had been a v-trem originally, you'd see 6 holes behind the slot, or 2 that would not quite line up with the Floyd posts (Fender 2-point).

If you want to continue to research, the guy's name in Japanese is
高崎 晃

and the guitar's name is
ランダムスター

Also, might be a long shot, or might work, but I would try to write to Akira directly (info@akiratakasaki.com) and see if he knows what specs his models had when new. Might be able to write in English and his management will try to find a way to respond, or if you can get your question translated into Japanese, Akira himself might even respond. Who knows. (You'll have to translate the response, but I'm saying you might be surprised that you can contact him.) Doesn't hurt to try.

Otherwise, try the ESP company and see if they have records on that guitar, even maybe by serial number?

The only number I have come across is a number that is stamped on the neck bolt plate. 00200. Nothing in the neck pocket other than a very faint RSZ
