NGD Mexi Tele!!!

I picked this 2005 Fender telecaster and it is in... odd condition lol it was started in the relic process but never finished. I LOVE relic guitars so I may continue this guy's work :P

mods made:
relic patch...
Seymour Duncan pickups
Sanded all the gloss of the neck
Locking tuners
Gold knobs.

it is pretty beat up but I think it just looks better :P I like the look of used guitars...

picked it up for $300 canadian and I am pretty happy with it!

anyone know how to remove the scent of cigarette?

I like it, I think the relic'ing that's been done so far is enough. Maybe take a little paint off another edge to give some symmetry, like this but not as crazy

Also note that a black pick guard looks pretty good with that color too.

I don't mind the aftermarket parts, except the gold knobs seem a little too random. And I prefer the classic ash tray, especially if it's relic'd, but I don't think you can change that out since the hole pattern is different.

I think you can buy a classic bridge with modern wholes in it... I THINK I saw it somewhere

Speaking of the relic Tele above, would an old Tele really have that much wear around the saddle adjustment screws? You shouldn't have to adjust those things that often. And it looks like the screw driver would have had to have slipped backwards somehow, approximately a thousand times.

you can swap the bridge out for an ashtray on a mexi tele

it's the american ones that you can't swap

Several of the parts on the OP guitar are not original. Some of them would not look out of place on a Korean Squier. The alignment between the bridge plate and pickguard is waaaaaaay out. The screws fastening the bridge to the body are not sitting properly in the countersinks. The wood exposed in the forearm "wear" patch is surprisingly pinkish-brown for either ash or alder but almost exactly right for Agathis.

Original Blackguard Fender guitars used slot headed screws. Screwdrivers can and do slip. Check out photographs of Roy Buchanan's number one Telecaster, "Nancy".

I am pretty sure it's not agathis as I checked this guitar on the internet and I have the receipt for it... so? Idk maybe it was stained darker before it was painted? idk

His has little round marks that are a distance from the screws that's consistent with the flared end of a flat head screwdriver. Do those saddles really self-adjust that often?

Maybe he stained it after relic'ing it.

I'm no professional, but I think the dark pits on the warn away portion would only become that dark after having been stained.

is it just me or does the body look awfully thin in this picture?
also you should check the pu/electric cavities, most squiers have the cavities painted black.

My two penn'orth. The guitar is a mongrel of Fender MIM and Squier Affinity parts with a nice pickup (or two?) plus some mystery machineheads.

1) Fender MIM modern Tele bridges do not have the two screws at the front edge of the baseplate. Some Squiers do.

2) Squier Affinity Tele bridge pickups are set at a non-standard slant angle. The correspondingly offset pickup cavity will be slightly of of alignment with the majority of bridges. The pickup has no option but to go where the cavity is, forcing the non-original bridge to sit out of square.

If I am correct about this, when you remove the bridge, you will find more screw holes than are strictly necessary to secure that bridge. The only way to get it into correct alignment will be by modifying the pickup rout, in the corner, near the low E string.

My inclination would be to part the thing out. The Mexican and American bits are probably worth the money that you paid. Alternatively, go to town on the customising. That bridge pickup cavity may be generous enough to accept a humbucker or a Filter'Tron style pickup.

Ya, something about the body is just a little off...bridge, colour, thickness...I'd open it up and take some pictures for us
