NGD = Most awesome cheap axe I ever played out of the box!

I get the desire to throw a Floyd on there and get your Glam on...but I think that is missing the point/joy/simplicity of these little sport models.

I'd spend a little time with the nut, then maybe get locking tuners, and call it a day. Get a Kramer 1984 if that's what you really want.

Nah, the truth is I'm loving these just how they are. I might swap out a pup just so I don't have two that sound the same.

Besides I found out that the Baretta vintage series (with a Floyd & JB) that cost $699 or therabouts in the US cost about $1500 here (wtf?) ..so screw that :lmao:

Just came in..so I unboxed and recorded it straight away :bigthumb:

Every bit as good of a player out of the box as the last. Same awesome fret job & amazing low action/killer set up, same sweet as **** 80's tone! This one has a really eye catching maple fingerboard as well ...really nice figuring & a sort of 3D quilted effect to it...very cool! Does'nt show up in the pic I took with my cheap 20 yr old camera though.

Ordered a black pot metal bridge and tuners for it ('cause I don't want to mess with that awesome zinc tone :D).

Purple one now has new black hardware ($30 for the bridge & tuner's) . Sounds great, plays great ....plus that sweet pot metal tone is alive and well ..sounds exactly the same as it did before. That pickup's pure gold ..It stays where it is :D

If you've ever wondered how black pot metal compares to chrome tone-wise... I think pretty nicely :bigthumb:

And anyone got any tips for removing the control/volume knob? I've tried a bunch of stuff but it won't budge. The skirt's the problem ...can't get anything under it :p

Thanks, It's been that and more :D

Thanks man, they really are sweet guitar's ..not just for the price either, & yeah I have a BC Rich Ironbird Pro with just one EMG 81 in the bridge ....it's always been a lot of fun :bigthumb:

I play with my bridge pup 99% of the time anyway .. so it makes good sense :p

Oh that Ironbird,,,,,,wish it was mine. I think they came off the same line as my neck-thru wmd-Warbeast.
Maybe not as good of value as the Kramer, but still a bargain.

That was a killer deal ..awesome top, neck-through, floyd 1000 series, Ebony fretboard, Emg 81, that incredible shape & best of all being MIC ..it did'nt break the bank. Once I got past the weird fret-spacing (short scale/24 frets) & the neck dive ..it played like a dream ..a complete shred machine. I'm glad it's mine :laugh2:

I wonder how these compare to the EVH Striped Series. I have one of those that I like pretty well but don't play because... I don't know.

They compare cheaply (price-wise :laugh2: ).but I'm betting the Stripey has nothing over these for playability & tone. I kid you not . Having said that I'd still like one with a Floyd someday :D

Sweet! Those seem to be pretty much the standard upgrades for this guitar. But both mine played so well out of the box (really amazing) ...did'nt want to change a thing except the aesthetics (though I think the blue one looks great with the chrome hardware) ...so I thought I'd stick to pot metal, but in black (if it ain't broke..) :D

Finally got the volume knob off and changed it to a black aluminium one from one of my preamp projects.. all mods complete, she's ready to rock :D
