Saw (and bought) this on Reverb, for $460. At first glance I saw $300 worth of pups (Little '59 in the neck position, Hot Rails neck in the middle, Hot Rails bridge), $60 worth of locking Fender tuners and $100 SKB case, and thought "no-brainer". Besides the fact that the body is solid mahogany and the neck is birdseye maple, and it's very pretty. Got it home and took it apart (as we do) to check things out, and realized that it has a custom Musikraft neck, probably $400-500, with an ebony fingerboard! the hot rails is surprisingly versatile if you have switching options. i have a 4pdt on/on/on switch in a strat with hot rails neck and bridge so i can switch both of them to series/split/parallel at the same time. i use the series and parallel options more than the split, but they are all useful

Though I just learned the problem with a heavy body, I'm playing a sitting-down gig with it as we speak, and I currently have no feeling in my right leg, cut off my circulation fairly effectively!

I never really thought about it, but I play mostly sitting down these days, and when I play a heavy Les Paul-ish guitar, I generally wear a strap, just so it doesn't slide off my leg. My main player is a PRS hollowbody that doesn't weigh anything...never had to deal with the circulation thing before...

Ha! 8.25 lbs is pretty average for a Strat (typical range is 7-9 lbs).

Talk to me when you get something in the 9.5 to 10 lb range...I have an S-style that clocks in just under 10 lbs and it's a proper shoulder crusher!

You guitar players should never play 5-6 string basses (or you would have to go to gym before) :D

No doubt, but even strong people holding 9lbs+ on one shoulder for 40+ years of their life will have some damage there. Weight, balance, and ergonomics are a big concern for me and still I look forward to my visits with my chiropractor. But I find that I won't play instruments that are too heavy for me.
