NGD: Presenting... Nebulous

I've had it awhile but finally got around to finishing it up.

Started life as a MIM Std Strat FSR. It was all black with cream plastic bits and a maple neck, just too normal for me. The neck is walnut and ebony. I saw the raw walnut blank at work (I work at Warmoth) before it was cut and couldn't stop admiring its straight, near perfectly quartered grain. Definitely sounds different than the maple, more mids, less snap. Still very bright but in a different way.

Pickups have been in it since the day I brought it home. Bridge is a Texas Hot Antiquity, neck is a Surfer. They are simply perfect, so rich, dynamic, and clear as a bell.

Pickguard is from Greasy Groove, kinda expensive and the quality is not perfect but the image is nice and they had quick turnaround on my custom order.

That's very cool - don't think I've seen a walnut bolt-on neck before. So each pu has its own tone control?

I'd play Yngwie and Blackmore on it all day long.

Re: NGD: Presenting... Nebulous

change the dot inlays to planets or galaxies... that will make the guitar very special ;)

Awesome looking guitar. Never would have thought that so many colours on a pickguard could actually look cool, but it does!

Re: NGD: Presenting... Nebulous

Thanks for all the kind words bros. Yes, each pickup has its own tone. The switch is still the original 5 way but I only use the front 3 positions. I didn't have any need for the middle pickup and prefered the bridge/neck combo over the "quack" . String sets with a wound G are a blessing as well.

I do love my job and I get a nice little discount but can only use it for 2 guitars worth a year.

Love that great looking neck!!

Walnut can be pretty heavy. Do you notice any imbalance/neck drop?

We made several necks from that batch and they were all exceptionally light for walnut, you're right its usually a heavy wood. Having said that, my particular neck is still kinda heavy because I got a fatback (the fattest), double expanding truss rod, and ebony board. I don't have issues with neck dive because I play seated classical style with the neck at a 30-40 degree angle.
