Anyway, another absolutely KILLER axe. Plays like butter, amazing fit & finish, great fast neck, awesome action & frets
sweet af tone..the works..

Regarding the Sustainiac..it's tremendous fun :D Definitely way more of a learning curve than I was expecting though...muting all the unnessesary noise is a ***** but reasonably easy once you start getting the hang of it...

This was my first try earlier today...though I have more of a hang of things now after spending a bit more time with it.. :bigthumb:

Cool finish on the guitar.

I've got a Godin with a Canadian rock maple neck, and even though it has a thinner neck than I usually go for it's the most stable guitar I've played. Humidity and temperature changes just don't phase it at all.

Cheers, Yeah, the finish is pretty sweet...The neck is'nt Ibanez wizard thin but it's still pretty thin & very comfortable to play. Feels real solid..

The retroactive bridge pup is really nice too..

Yeah great colour and finish, Not to mention unusal too.

They had them in red and green as well..all really sweet, but I went with the blue...for some reason, blue is my thing right now :bigthumb:

....and the blue binge is not yet done with :firedevil.

I always stayed away fom them 'cause of their "modern" metal/metalcore kinda shape/heastocks/endorsee's. But this one is as old-school as it gets looks-wise.

Another really cool thing that I really like about this guitar is the amazing neck joint. Like an Ibanez "aanj" but sleeker & sculpted even better. Upper fret access is really effortless... :bigthumb:

I really do like the color- I am a sucker for blue, too! It reminds me of a bowling ball.

It's actually kinda dark/menacing looking (2nd pic I posted ^^ up there) in the shadows but lights up this brilliant blue in the light (1st pic). Really a cool metallic finish..I love it!

Hha..I get the bowling ball comparison too..

More fun w/ the Sustainiac..this time it's slow & easy...

There's actually a lot of potential for cool sounds you'd never be able to get out of a normal guitar..but yeah, def quite a learning curve. Not half as easy as I thought it would be..

It's literally been hot-rodded lol. Has a brass block and all screws have been replaced with stainless steel ones. I think the saddles are upgraded too..Truth be told I'v never really had a problem with the regular Floyd Rose specials anyway,. They've always worked fine for me..

Only problem I've seen that actually matters on some of the specials and the 1000s is the bends aren't perfect from the base-plate going up into where the fine-tuners screw into.
That can in some cases limit the amount of usable range for the fine-tuners, usually resulting in them not being able to go down quite as far. (only if the bend is too far back/down)

Even in those worst cases you can simply start the fine-tuners closer to their top position, instead of closer to their middle position. (I mean before you lock the nut clamp, this way you will still have a good amount of range to sharpen the pitch,,,,,,and it's more of a thing with larger gauge setups because the saddle will be slid farther back for proper intonation)

I'msure you're right but I personally have never noticed that or had that problem with mine. I probably have them on at least 5-6 guitars, but then I only use use extra light (9-42) strings...10's at the most.

The whole thing about the knife edges wearing out quick and baseplate not being strong/warping etc..that's bull though. I've had most of mine for at least 5-7 years and they're all really stable and work great. I would'nt swap one out for an OFR unless I was really having a problem w/ it (which so far I have'nt ever). It's amusing how some folk will just dismiss them as unusable and needing immediate replacement on any new axe they buy :laugh2:

I'm getting the hang of the Sustainiac more now,. Just two things to keep in mind basically. >Open strings that are'nt muted (low A & E mostly) will just vibrate/drone and make noise, worse , that noise drowns out notes you're actually trying to play higher up. >Also you need to play around with the switches....having it switched on all the time, or on just one mode will just make things sound monotonous. Things sound better when you keep switching between modes and don't keep it on right through. that can be a bit tricky getting used to..

But overall it sounds so ****ing cool and is whole lot of fun.. :bigthumb:

As someone who uses an Ebow quite a bit, I look forward to trying a guitar with a Sustainer. Does it still function as a neck pickup?

Never tried an Ebow, but I've been curious about them too..

Yeah with the Sustainiac switched off it's a decent sounding active neck pup. Once it's switched on it automatically reverts to the Sustainiac pickup even if your bridge pup is selected at the time & the three way selector switch is also completely disabled. Also, apparently if your battery dies when your using the Sustainiac it automatically switches to the bridge pup..so things don't go dead..
