Following on from my last post...
So went for a bit of a curveball in the end - ended up buying a Squier Classic 60’s vibe Strat. Link is below, will try to get pictures of th actual guitar shortly but getting phots on here is a nightmare.

Long story short - after trying some strats out in the store, this was recommended as an afterthought by the salesman and I really liked it. As well as loving the colour etc, it plays really well and sounds awesome for the price. It also comes in at less than half of some of the others I was looking at so much better for my budget and fine for what I was after!
I’d also heard and read really good things about them anyway, and I wasn’t really fussed about the Fender logo - I just wanted a nice strat that I thought played well.
The fingerboard radius is a 9 rather than a 7 (like some of the MIMs) as well which is a nice touch and it plays really well.
Thanks for the advice however, I think this is a good place to start for now - maybe in a few years if I feel I deserve it I’ll treat myself to a higher end model!
