NGD: Warmoth 7/8 Warhead Mahogany w/Flamed Redwood Top

Re: NGD: Warmoth 7/8 Warhead Mahogany w/Flamed Redwood Top

Hi treyhaislip!
Very nice Warmoth you have there. The body is mahogany with "redwood" top? I am thinking rosewood, yes? Are you hearing a darker tone than you might get with say a flamed maple top or is the top wood fairly bright? I used to have some nice rosewood claves that I loved for their crisp clackiness. Congrats on a winner with your pickup pairing too. I have an '86 Roadstar 450 that is very jealous of your new superstrat.

Hey man!

Thank you very much! It is indeed a Redwood, not Rosewood. :)

To be completely honest, what jumps out the most about this guitar is Clarity–very crisp tone with superb articulation. The Phat Cat in the neck is not muddy by any means but sounds beefy and really compliments the Pearly Gates in the bridge.

Over all I would put this guitar as brighter than the 2 Gibson Les Paul Studios I had (no maple cap IIRC) but warmer than my Fender Strat.

Thanks again!

Wow, beautiful guitar. The top is gorgeous, and I really like how the wood color tones are similar, which helps the top really pop.

Thank you very much! The top is what sold me on going with the build. Nearly went with a color for the back and sides–am glad I left it natural. Thanks again!
