I've been wanting a Les Paul for a long time now, almost pulled the trigger a few times, but for one reason or another, I never did. A couple months ago I saw this '09 Paul Studio in a pawn shop. Played it and it felt and played great. Finally I found an affordable one that felt right. But I wasn't crazy about the EMG's, but in the case were the stock pickups. They were asking $600, so I put a deposit on it. Well, today was the day for it to come home.
Might go with the stock pups for now. I do have, what I believe is a Dimarzio neck PAF arriving soon. Would love to put a WLH in the bridge. The EMG's will be listed for sale soon. Not sure what they are yet. Probably 81/85.

Now the unexpected guitar purchase.
I really need to stay off Craigslist, but I can't. I always have to see what's for sale locally. So, this morning I see someone has an old Gibson Melody Maker for sale. The definitely sparked my interest. So I emailed the seller. In his listing, he mentioned he has no idea of what it was worth, and that some mods were done to it before he got it.
As I'm leaving the Pawn shop this afternoon, he emails back. I asked if he's had any offers, he emailed back $250-$300. Turns out, he lived 5 minutes away from the pawn shop. I stopped by to take a look at it. $300 and it was mine. For a 1960 Gibson Melody Maker, I'd say that's my best score to date.
Just got done playing both guitars at home. Tomorrow I'll be opening both up. Looking like a Dimarzio in the '60. He bought the guitar when he graduated in '82, all mods were done prior to that. I may be taking a trip to WD Music to look at period correct tuners for the Melody Maker.
