NGD!

Sold off the LP and ordered a new EVH Wolfgang hardtail

Much lighter than the LP
Sustain on this thing is rediculous
Very load acoustically
Ebony fretboard
SS frets are super smooth
5A Flame top
Pickups are awesome (pickup switch is a little funky though) --> Wired backwards
Stays in tune like a champ
Tone Pros bridge
Gotoh stop tail w/ fine tuners

I know a few of you will call me crazy for getting rid of the LP, but I assure you, I wouldn't have purchased this guitar if I didn't think it was amazing. The attention to detail absolutely smokes any Gibson. Absolutely amazing. Nice hybrid between a LP and a Strat

Re: NGD!

Is it true that SS frets "never" wear out? Fender/EVH claims they won't. I know some ppl don't like them, but I really dig em; they are super smooth

They wear out very slowly it could be said that they don't. SS is much harder than nickel, so it's the strings that will wear out, and I've heard the strings wear out quite faster.

Re: NGD!

I know it probably plays like a dream and sounds even better, but something about that offset body shape bugs me. It seems clunky or something. It's probably ergonomic as all heck but I think I prefer offset bodies like a Mayones Regius or the Jackson Broderick Soloist.

Not that I'm dogging it, I'm super jealous and happy for you. Happy NGD!

I have a friend who plays 300+ shows a year, and I refretted his main guitar with SS wire 3-4 years ago, and there is no noticeable wear on the frets currently.

Most of my guitars have SS wire, and I have not seen any accelerated wear on the strings. However, if you think about it, the strings should last longer due to less friction. Nickel rubbing on nickel, vs nickel rubbing on SS...

Ya i do admit I did notice that when I first looked at it. It does sit a bit different that the LP

Re: NGD!

Wow, that's a killer guitar. Congrats!

A few years ago I had a Parker with SS frets and I didn't notice accelerated string wear compared to my NS fretted guitars. In fact, I would concur with Aryton in that there was actually less wear/pitting on the bottoms of the strings. The only thing I noticed was the silky smooth bends. My next guitar will have them - and on an ebony board, too. I can't wait to try the SS/ebony combo.

Re: NGD!

I really dig the look of the fretboard on that. The square markers look so perfect with the rest of the guitar. And the zebras look perfect!

Congrats!

Re: NGD!

The neck HB is backwards too, from a traditional setting I mean. The screws are towards the bridge, like the bridge HB

The pickups don't feel very hot, but they are very tight and punchy with good mids. Makes me think they might be low output with ceramics
