Some of the stuff we've been covering in my band has increasingly lead to to think about using a Floyd Rose again. I toyed with the idea of getting a FRX for my Fret King Esprit V, but I kinda like the way it sounds and fitting the FRX might be more hassle than it's worth. Fortunately my decision was made easier when this little gem came up on eBay.

It's made by a company called Jack Butler (he of Crossroads fame!), and it comes with Wilkinson pickups and an original Floyd Rose, nice old school chunky neck and a metallic green alder body.

I gave it a run through at rehearsal tonight and it certainly nails that 80's vibe! I'll see how I get on with the Wilky pickups but may just drop a JB and Jazz in it and set my DeLorean for 1985!

Nice! I'd definitely recommend the JB/Jazz set from what I can gather you will be playing on it. Congrats! :headbang:

I love it!! It reminds me of my Charvels. You should seriously think about throwing a set of Duncan AHB-1 Blackouts in it. I bet you'd love them.

Yeah, the color reminds me of the Contemporary MIJ Fender Strats and Teles from the mid 80's. I had a metallic burgundy mist twin HB Tele, that should never had sold. It's kinda a cross between those and the Charvels. It has a pretty chunky neck more reminiscent of the Fenders.

I dropped a JB and Jazz into it for yesterday's rehearsal and got pretty much what I expected!
I just need to swap in a flatter bridge pickup surround as the existing one is slanted. Because of that I can't quite set the JB how I want it, but it still sounds great even with the 500k volume pot. I was expecting to have to change that too. I might also stick in a mini switch or push pull pot to split the buckers.
All in all tho, great fun!
