20231229_105652.jpgIt's sooo sweet! My new to me Neon Orange SL4X!!20231229_105622.jpgLooks great next to my Rocket Red SLX DX!!! Aready got a Hyperswitch and some SD YJM Fury pups on the way along with a YJM volume pot. Deciding which pickguard overlay I want from Walopus, and in March it"s going to DC Custom Guitars for a full YJM fretboard scallop.

Awesome guitars 8eezrule!

I have a nuclear orange JS32 very much like your Rocket Red. Nice decals! LOVE IT! What color is that thing really? Often looks orange to me in pics, and pics themselves vary.

Also - SLX4...I'm always intrigued by those. Going full YJM eh?
So what is/was the idea between Jackson + YJM scallops/pups??? Very interesting.

The rocket red is really like a dayglo red/orangey color, very 80's, SL4X, always wanted a YJM Fender, but those things are expensive...even used. Besides, I like neck thru guitars better than bolt on, sustain difference is big. The slx dx has a brass sustain block on the floyd which makes it even better, and a brass claw. The 4x is gonna get the same, and both are gonna get titanium retainer blocks and stainless string lock bolts along with brass fine tuners. Some silent springs too, right now I got a piece of foam folded up in both. So my inspiration for the sl4x was the Fender YJM, but I'm also a big Joe Stump fan. So maybe both those guy's influenced my decision on my future mods. The guy that inflienced my purchase of the neon orange 4x...Jeff Beck. He played one in the 80's(check out his Ambitious video). His was a Jackson custom shop guitar though. Charvel also had a model with a reverse headstock. Jeff's pink Jackson(Tina) named because Tina Turner carved her name in it, had a Kahler, which Jeff didn't like. So those are the reasons for the why and a little history on the SL4X. Oh yeah, always thought Yngwie should have used Floyd's on his guitars, so that too. As far as the pups, I have a friend with a Fender with some in it, and I love the way they sound. The stock pups are a little dark sounding to me and very microphonic when I turn my noise gate off. With YJM pups you can do bluesy and jazzy stuff, and get away with some spanky country stuff, but just barely. Sorry this was so long dude, but you asked.

I'm not crazy about the p-gaurd color, that's why I'm looking at Walopus.com for a skin to cover it with...so many to choose from. WDmusic wamns too much for a custom. Walopus is actually a drum wrap company, but sell sheets for pickguards for $32.

See I kinda like the creamsicle look. Jeff Beck appeared in ads for them before his signature Fender.

Ha, that's funny you should say that man. I'm leaning heavily towards the plain pearl white wrap/skin. I kinda like it too the longer I look at it and play it.

When I saw this guitar on reverb that video and those ads immediately popped into my head, and I had to have it. I was looking at a new at GC that was black and white. Glad I found this one.
