NO NEW (or used) GUITARS!!!!!

This year. Definitely this time.

I failed miserably at that goal last year, but a Pink Dean Cadillac and killer sale of a BC Rich came around....Plus Gene's Toilet Seat Hamer.

I'm 1 month down, 11 to go.

* Rule - IF I can finance a guitar via the sale of other guitars, that does not count. THE BOTTOM LINE IS IF ANYTHING SHOWS UP, GUITAR(S) OF EQUAL VALUE MUST HAVE DEPARTED.

I know this is the wrong place to get that kind of help....but keep me in line guys!

I totally understand that principle. My wife says I can't buy a new shirt (for example) unless I get rid of one I already have.

That doesn't apply to guitars however (thank goodness).

From one addict to another, I guess I can't help you much.

I'm limiting myself to a few small parts to complete a couple pickup swap projects,,,,,,,and a vodoo2power+ to complete my board project.

I think you're on the right track, you've got some pretty sweet guitars.

That said NGD Wednesday, it has been over a year since my last guitar I think!

Twelve months is a good goal. If you can think of any guitars you want, see if you just like them or if they will REALLY add something useful to your collection. Some sound you couldn't get before. If you still think you need it after a year then get it. Otherwise it's just gonna distract you from playing the ones you got and accomplishing other life goals.

I also have two projects that have been sitting for over two years. Cheap Caddy and a Jackson. Those are allowed to be modded/painted etc....But I already had those!

Not if the mods/paint ends up costing more than what you originally paid for them it doesn't :wink:

I think you're hedging by allowing replacement guitars

Be rigid

Each guitar you have is like each one I have
I have them for a reason
They all have a purpose and a story

I cant imagine trading any of my guitars

I only have one guitar I intend to buy and it’s one that belonged to a friend who passed away. Beyond that, none.

Aceman, I understand... We just talk like addicts... LOL

For me I have a solution : When I have no band I GAS a lot but now I have a band, I write our music, practise the licks, try new ones, swap them, practise the new licks... Then my mind has really no time to think of buying a new guitar. This is out of my head now (although, may I had this, I do not have yet a V...)

There is also a cool derivative : collecting slides in all materials, sizes, colours and origin... This is less costly and take less space at home.
And really they do not sound the same !

I went cray in the past month and bought 2 amps, a cab, and an attenuator. Plus I have my custom Mustang project. I'm gonna put the kibosh down after all this.

I'm at the same point, although with only a few guitars in a small space.

It makes potential purchases a lot less attractive when you have to decide what you'll get rid of to make space. This also helps you raise your standards and forces you to consider what you'll actually get the most use out of.

You will fail. There will be something shiny and attractive that will catch your eye and you will not resist.


I would love to have a few more but looking at what I have now and how they play, I'm good. There is one spec'd out project but it will wait for now. Too many other obligations to take care of first.
