NOS BC Rich USA body blank! Need some info here…
When was the last time you saw one of these?!?
I’ve been cleaning out the storage area over the last few weeks and found this stashed away where it’s been forgotten about for almost a decade. I was never really a fan of pointy guitars but years ago one of my buddies picked this up and we figured we’d finish it off but never did. This is probably going to be offered for sale at some point but not just yet, I want to gather as much info as I can about it and establish the market value which I assume is quite a bit higher then what we paid for it in 1994!!! I might also have someone (like Neal Moser) finish this off the way it should be. Time will tell because right now the future is undecided.
From what I gather this is a model called either the ‘Wrath’ or ‘Wraith’ depending on who you talk to. Either way I don’t think BC Rich made a lot of these because web searches haven’t pulled up much of anything, even Neal Moser’s site was a bust! Here’s what I know about it…I got a call from one of my friends who had found it hanging on the “junk” rack of a local store which had been a huge BC Rich dealer before they went under for a brief period in the early ‘90’s. This place had bought some of the remaining inventory a few months to a year or so after the factory closed and that body blank was part of it. The blank was already routed for the flat mount Kahler and since my buddy had one lying around he figured that now he had a guitar to go with it! I installed the Kahler & locking nut (no screws) drilled holes to mount tuners and even got as far as hard-wiring a pickup to an output jack before we went back to school in the fall and abandoned the project. Yah, the pickup route is placed in an odd spot but that’s a stock ‘feature’ lol
Right now I’m trying to get an idea it’s market value, the only place I’ve ever seen BC Rich blanks for sale is at Ed Romans shop with the going rate of $750-1000 each for Mockingbirds, Warlocks & the like but I don’t know if that’s realistic or not given the rarity of body blanks and the Wrath model in general. Do ya’ll think this one would be higher or lower? Aside from the little scrapes on the upper horn the guitar is virtually perfect, like 9.7 of 10.
Also, when did the Wrath go into and out of production? Any ideas out there on how many USA–made guitars BC Rich finished off & put out there? The only BC Rich Wrath I’ve seen in person was an imported NJ series.
Much thanks in advance!
