Yeah, Live After Death, got turned around with Live at Last (Who the heck did that album?) I've got that vid somewhere... Gearjonser went to that show in CA IIRC. I went in Philly.

D.C. (Landover, MD actually) here :D

Was the Lado like a darkish blue color with a trem?

Thats the one!

Re: NOT DUNCAN...NOT DiMARZIO....then what?

I am real familiar with the Rio BBQ and can say that it will do what you are asking of it.

The BBQ is the bridge bucker in my main two SG's. Keep in mind it is a WARM pickup. Think of it like a JB with more bass and less treble. Very full bodied and with a distinct roll off in the highs. That may or may not be what you are looking for. If you use a lot of gain it can be a godsend because it smooths out the tone. It is the exact opposite of shrill. Some people think that it is too dark, and if they like bright pickups they are right. I love it and it has been my main bridge bucker for at least 3 years.

I didn't like the Texas neck however. The Rio guys like warmth (a LOT), and I found the neck to be just too much bass.

After trying everything (and I do mean that... 59, Pearly, Jazz, DiMarzios, etc), I went to the original Gibson 490R neck pickup (one of the most underrated pickups EVER in my opinion). They match REALLY REALLY well output wise and frequency balance wise if the heights are set properly. The best balance for my taste that I have found. Fantastic sounding combo.

I am aware that this is a Duncan board and I only post this stuff when a question like this is asked. :D

Good luck bro!

:burnout:

Think he may have used that one on Powerslave too, eh?

You mean to record the album? I don't know for a fact, but I figure if the song has some bar useage, then yes. None of his other guitars like the Destroyers and whatnot had a bar on it...PowerSlave is the first album where he started using a bar....If you meant live on that particular song, as opposed to the album, then yes, on the vid and when I saw him, he played the Lado.

Mac, thanks for the input on the Rio. It's actually starting to sound NOT like what I want. Prolly a bit too smooth and "dark" for me. BTW, I've got no issue with the 490R either...it's not my fave neck pup, but it works well! :)
