Not loving my A2P for jazz. Seth?

Re: Not loving my A2P for jazz. Seth?

This is where I get mine. They work well and are reasonably small. Only a buck each.

20k or 50k tapers over the whole range for a spin o split. 50k is my favorite. 10k will cut off the upper range of the taper. Also, you must no load them.

I'm the same. When I started I only wanted full fat, then my tastes changed for more chirp but still jazzy. You could try an A3 like Chris said or an A5 or UOA5. If that doesn't work, yes the Seth is great for more chime but still nice body for jazz.

I don’t know that Clint 55 is saying it right, but I think he gets what I am trying to say.

But anyways, I went and dropped the pickup a little and raised the pole pieces, and that did help A bunch! :8: I aso adjusted the amp a little. It is definitely a lot better. I don’t know If I’ll stick with this or if I want to try a Seth. Maybe I’ll cover this pickup.

I just feel like I wanted to hear the guitar more, if that makes any sense

Raising the poles was a good move though and I think I’ll try this for a while.

Thanks everyone!

I recently tried an UOA5 magnet swap into the APH-1. I guess its like a SH-2 jazz, but with a weaker magnet.

The pickup not as warm and creamy as before. Instead it gained clarity and pick response. Its hard to say that one is better than the other, as it will depend on the guitar, your preferences, and the pickup mounting height.
I was expecting the UOA5 to give less output than A2, but I haven't noticed much difference. I guess that a bit more brightness compensates for the weaker magnet.

Glad it's working out. Re - hearing the guitar more. If you want more dynamics and articulation... Maybe you should give a P90 a try.

Re: Not loving my A2P for jazz. Seth?

Thinking about it, I don't think there is a huge difference between the Alnico II Pro and Seth Lover, anyway. I think the Seth might have some more touch-sensitivity because it isn't potted, and I can see that for some jazz, that might work. But really, they are pretty close.

Re: Not loving my A2P for jazz. Seth?

The Seth is a little more articulate, organic, and middy. 2 other suggestions that I thought were good for an articulate jazz sound were the benedetto or a P90.
