Probably an unpopular choice, but would definitely fit the bill: the Fuglybucker! It has amazing note clarity and chord definition. The low-end is thick and meaty while the lead tones are smooth and sustaining. Single notes are powerful and almost as full as power chords. On top of all that, it is extremely versatile with just a volume knob.

Hey all. Just wanted to chime back in. I got my Pegasus yesterday and I'm in love!! This pickup is exactly what I was hearing in my head. It's definitely less hot than the SH-5, so I had to bump up my pre-gain by one number on my 6505, but it's sounds perfect. Plenty of chunk and thump on the palm-muted riffs. and the single note power!! oh my! Usually I never use a bridge pickup for leads, but this pickup I can without it sounding too thin! This pickup definitely has some lows, and I think that's what helps the single note stuff really sound good. The high's were definitely not as harsh sounding as the SH-5. Much more smooth top-end.

I highly recommend it!

I just put a Sentient/Pegasus set in one of my Ibanez Sabers. Very articulate and 3D is its sound. Medium/High output, great clarity, smooth and still quite ferocious.

That set is also super tight. If you like the low notes to explode from the speakers with a thump, that is the way to do it.

I've played down to b standard and the bridge stays tight. The neck pickup is pretty good but there are better. I'm playing this on a block trem, alder body, rosewood fretboard for reference

I'm putting it in a mahogany wing, maple neck and ebony fretboard and using 13-65 cleartones in drop b
And wondering if the black winters would stay tight under distortion and do nice clean once coil split

I love the Pegasus!!! By far the best bridge Duncan-Bucker to come out in the past several years IMHO!!! They should really stop marketing it as a almost strictly Thrashcore pickup though, it's insanely versatile!

A buddy of mine who primarily play's Jazz & Funk asked me for some pickup advice a while back, going off what he said he wanted from the bridge of his Godin 5th Avenue the Pegasus sorta just popped into mind, mainly because of its clarity? He's fairly familiar with Duncan pickups so when I first made the suggestion he looked at me like I had two heads!!! I had one laying around that I had pulled from a Strat so I convinced him to at least try it. That was over a year ago and he still has that same pickup in his guitar! I should probably give him a call & get him to pay for it sometime soon??? LOL...

The Black Winters are alright. They clean up better than you'd think.

I mainly need it to be tight and have good chord definition in drop b under mild distortion while being able to do cleans with breaking up

Personally I think the Pegasus has much better note separation & chord definition than the Black Winter bridge. They definitely clean up and split better IMHO but the Black Winter is nothing if not tight!!!

Would the nazgul and sentient set perhaps be a better option?

The Black Winter is pretty tight with low tunings. The Pegasus/Sentient set is really the best for thump on the low strings and note separation to my ears. The Nazgul seems to be polarizing- it is pretty extremely EQ'd. I think the Pegasus does more stuff well.
