Another well documented, widely available pedal with nothing to add. I sometimes think this is my favorite overdrive. I think the blue hippo likes it, too.

It is a damn good one. There's some pretty simple mods around that really improve it.

Re: NPD: Boss BD-2 Blues Driver

Everyone likes these, yet I haven't ever managed to play one.

Are these good through the dirty channel?

Re: NPD: Boss BD-2 Blues Driver

I modded mine quite a bit, and made it into an overdrive, not a light DS1. It's clean on the first third or so of the gain control. It makes it a much better pedal, even though it's good stock.

Re: NPD: Boss BD-2 Blues Driver

I still got mine 20 years since i first got it. Do some simple mods and you got a killer pedal. Boss, IMHO has some awesome pedals for a fraction of the price of boutique pedals=boss rluez.

Re: NPD: Boss BD-2 Blues Driver

Nice grab. Mine is still stock, and it's my go to boost/OD pedal.

Re: NPD: Boss BD-2 Blues Driver

Anyone know if the OS-2 is similar? I got one in a gear lot off of craigslist a few weeks ago and it's a pretty cool pedal. With the "color" knob all the way down, I can dial it in nearly identical to my Maxon OD-9. On the opposite end of the spectrum, it sounds just like Nirvana when playing through the 'US' tone stack of my Egnater Tweaker. It's not going to replace the OD-9 on my main board, but I think it'll see quite a bit of use as a boost for recording various overdubs.

I thought the OS 2 was kind of an SD1 and DS1. Afaik the BD2 is a different circuit.

Re: NPD: Boss BD-2 Blues Driver

The BD-2 is a pedal I've tried to like many times, but have never really gelled with. I've been getting the itch after hearing some of the tones That Pedal Show produces with their modified BD-2 (I think it's a Keeley mod? not sure). The last time I had one was about 7 years ago, and my taste in pedals has evolved quite a bit since then. It might be worth another try.

Re: NPD: Boss BD-2 Blues Driver

I've gelled with it. There has been serious gelling. Sooo gellin'.

OD3 is a highly under-rated block of awesome.

Thanks for saying this. I've recently rediscovered my OD-3 but somehow feel like I need something like a blues driver or OCD.
