Look what else arrived this morning:

I'm still waiting for the neck to arrive but I'll be getting everything installed in the body tonight and tomorrow. Looks like I'll be posting a NGD as soon as the neck arrives and I get the tuners installed. I'm excited to try the WLH set out as I've had my eye on them since they were released!

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

Sweet! Definitely update us on the project! I've wanted to try the WLH set...might just have to get a set out of curiosity lol

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

That's a beauty! Congrats! Can't wait to see and hear the finished guitar. I almost put the WLH set in my LP but found a killer deal on the Alt 8 and I love it! My next LP will probably get these p'ups.

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

Thanks guys! I really love this color too. The idea of this transparent blue finish on a carved top LP type body made out of swamp ash has been my dream build for about 6 years now. I am beyond happy to have it in my hands now! I cannot wait for the neck to arrive so I can play this beauty!

Here are some better photos taken with a better camera:

The rest of the updates, photos and build info/details will come when I complete the guitar and post a NGD thread. Hopefully the neck arrives soon!

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

Are you going with black hardware?

That'll be bad*a*s*s, if you ask me. ;)

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

What wood neck did you go with? (I am currently building a HH Tele with Chrome hardware in pretty much the same color.)

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

Those pickups are going to scream in that guitar. If the excitement doesn't go away after 4 hours you should probably consult a doctor.

Well, the original plan was an Indian rosewood neck but during the process I fell in love with roasted maple necks so I went with a roasted maple. I am very excited to try this combo out!

That HH tele sounds awesome! I can't wait to see pics!

I think you will LOVE that roasted maple neck!

Is it a 1 piece maple or does it have a maple board? Mine was a roasted quartersawn maple with a rosewood board...loved it! (dad liked it more lol)

Not sure yet. My assumptions are it will have a maple board but if it came as a one piece that would be a pleasant surprise. The body came as a one piece back which was also a pleasant surprise!

Anyway, I'm hoping I love the roasted maple too! As I was going through the process of deciding what neck to order I asked some respected builders and players I know or have access to what their favorite neck to play with a bolt on swamp ash body was. Almost all of them came back with maple as their answer. One guy said wenge. I already have a wenge, bocote and an Indian rosewood neck but I have not owned a maple neck in 8 years now! So it will be fun to see and hear something a little different than what I'm used to.

Ah I see! A luthier I know said 1 piece necks are not the strongest against warping but that a board glued on a neck is a better safegaurd because the grains are not parallel (like the 5 to 6 piece necks that are glued together, super strong.) With proper care and storing (case as opposed to leaning up against the wall or something) I don't know how much of necessity/whatever it is...I'm wondering if that is more "in theory" than in real life scenarios.

Anywho, roasted maple is my favorite neck feel now, feels amazing! Looking forward to seeing yours come to life!

That makes sense! In that case, I do hope it has a separate board for sure.

I can't wait to try the roasted maple neck for sure. Right now my favorite neck feel is wenge followed by unfinished rosewood so I'm eager to try the roasted maple for sure!

I am about to do the 3rd coat of shielding paint (for coil splits on the WLH) and then once it dries I will begin the electronics installation.
