NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

They were only $2 total (shipping included) for 4 of them from china so it's all good.

Ah well in that case you might as well just chuck 'em! jk! You never know when you may need them though! Glad it wasn't an expensive thing!

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

I will for sure once I try them. I've got a long way to go. Still waiting for the neck to arrive and I still have to wire the jack and pots. I just got done soldering the switch though! I think that's all I'll get done tonight though.

I think you're going to love these pickups. I put a set in my PRS SC-58 and they brought that guitar to life!

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

I'm hoping today is the day I get the post office slip saying I can go pick the package up tomorrow. If it doesn't come today I will be looking at Monday or later of next week to pick it up as the post offices are closed here on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hi,

Good news, I can pick up the package in the morning! Hopefully I will get the tuners installed, body polished and some photos taken this weekend!

Re: NPD: Whole Lotta Humbucker Set

Neck is on! The switch is giving me some small trouble in the bridge position so I will have to replace it before attempting any recordings as I get a little static if it's not making full contact. If I wiggle the lever of the switch a bit it makes full contact, static goes away and full volume comes through. I will probably just order a switchcraft at some point and call it a day. In the morning I am going to go see my local tech to see if he can slot the nut slots a little lower for me and of course I am still making neck relief adjustments as the neck has only been on with string tension for about 9 hours so far.

I played on it a bit though and I am very happy so far! I hope to take some pics this weekend and post a proper NGD soon!

Awesome! What are you thoughts of the Roasted Maple? Looking forward to pics!

It smells delicious! It is extremely light for a neck which makes it awesome for this solid body LP. It was one of the easiest woods I've ever drilled into for tuner screws and truss rod cover screws (wenge was the toughest). The feel is real smooth and slick. The tone is really cool, I would not say it is as bright as unroasted maple (as you know Trey since you've played them) but the clarity and articulation is there. I am really impressed for sure. It is going to take me a few days getting used to seeing such a bright colored neck on one of my guitars as it's been almost 8 years or so since I've owned a maple neck instrument!

I ordered it with plain ol' black dots because some of my favorite maple necks have that classic look:
