NPD x2 !! And I love them!

Today I went for the bargains of the century:
Joyo Us Dream (yup, it's not US, it's Us. No idea what it means) and the Joyo Sweet Baby pedals.

As you may know, these are Chinese copies of much more expensive dirt pedals: The Suhr Riot and the Mad Professor Sweet Honey.
I've never played the originals. I don't know if they're close to the real thing or not.
But I can say these are the two best sounding dirt boxes I've ever played, in any price bracket.

The Us Dream is the Riot clone.
The mids are big, punchy and proud and the tone is very real and harmonic. The bass sits just right and the highs are very controllable with the tone knob.
It lacks some clarity maybe, but it has tons of gain onboard so you can't really ask that much.
The tones are spectacular with it. Heavy and sort of on the modern Marshall side of things.
Much better than my old Marshall Jackhammer, or my Metal Muff + Top Boost. AMAZING crunch.

I really like it. But it's nothing compared to what the Sweet Baby does for me.
The dynamics on this thing are HUGE. Properly huge.
The only time I've had such a picking-strength sensitive sound is with my Tweaker cooking it's power tubes.
Play soft and it's perfectly clean. Strum hard and the Sweet Baby delivers some round, warm and extremely musical overdrive with lots of character.
It absolutely destroys my Keeley Blues Driver. The mids are much wider, the bass is bigger and rounder, and the highs are much more harmonic.
I can see why bungalowbill loves it.

These two respond incredibly well to the use of your guitar's volume pots, just like my Tweaker does when near cranked.
The Dream clears up very well and the Sweet Baby is just ridiculous on that aspect.

I literally cannot believe how good these two sound, and the price is just stupid.

The Sweet Baby is awesome. By far my favorite OD pedal. I'd happily play it along side any boutique spendy pedal.

Interesting. I kinda want their DI box with cab emulator.

Re: NPD x2 !! And I love them!

I've got the US dream, and after a thread recently on the Sweet Baby I ordered that one too.
I also have the Vintage OD

Love cheap pedals that sound like boutique ones...like my modded SD-1. One of my best, sits alongside my Klon(e) and various lovepedals.

Another good option is the various versions of the Marshall Bluesbreaker clones like BYOC or GGG

How much & where? And have they got anything angrier, or is it mostly clones of mild and vintagey stuff? ...I'm pretty much stocked for the big Green & Orange, need something more modern for variety's sake.

I just ordered the British and am looking into buying an Ultimate Drive!

So much fun to be had with these pedals at that price point

They've got three in that vein:
The Pocket Metal (Nano Metal Muff I think), the High Gain Distortion (Metal Muff + Top Boost I think) and the Extreme Metal which looks suspiciously similar to the Wampler Triple Wreck.

I tried the High Gain Distortion and it was promising, but I didn't try it for long.

...sooo, about that "how much & where" part??

If you are in the US, go to pedaltrader.com. You can buy them new, or try them for $20.00/month for one, or $30.00 for two, with the rental price going toward the final purchase price.
