Nut or What?

i noticed that the strings on my guitar dont run exactly strait from nut to bridge on my mexi-strat. as the strings go down the fretboard, they are slanted toward the left(if you are looking strait on toward the guitar).

could the nut be cut wrong, or is the neck in crooked? it doesn't seem to affect the palyability of the guitar, but it kinda bothers me.

what do you guys think?

Loosen the screws on the back of the neck and straighten it out.

Sounds like the neck has shifted a bit to me. What Chi3f said....

do the strings have to be off to do it, or just loosened?

Just loosen the 4 screws holding the neck on and yank the neck into the desired position. :burnout:

I'm not knocking your guitar, but the Mexican Fenders tend to be slapped together. I've come across what you're describing-- sometimes, the neck, nut or bridge is out of alignment from the rest of the guitar and one of those parts will be shifted to compensate for the discreprency, but the problem still exists. Take it to a tech and get his/her opinion.
