nobody actually answered my question!
But in an attempt to steer it in the direction that i might be able to get what I was looking for in the first place....
I don't see the point of spending close to $200 to get a coveted tube screamer. It doesn't make sense to me. I want a simple little overdrive pedal that I can use to boost my amp.
I plan on using it with just a hair or two of gain, so my solos sound more fluid and thicker than my regular rhythm sound. But I also want to get some mid/treble boosting action going on, which is the whole reason I'm looking at overdrive pedals, and not clean boosts or EQs. I do NOT plan on cranking the level control, because I don't want to jump out right outta the mix and drown out everyone else. I hate when guitarists do that. What I want is for the boosted mids/trebles to shift my tone to a point where it sounds like it's standing out more, without necessarily being louder sounds like a job for an EQ, I know, but I also want that slight gain boost (again, why i'm looking at overdrives, not distortions or clean boosts).
I've read that the SD-1 is a bit thinner sounding than the OD-3, but that it's better for boosting amps in the way I've described. The OD-3 seems to be a better pedal for going straight into the front of a clean amp.
Now, I unfortunately haven't played either, so I'm asking again for some opinions on these two...or anything that compares to them that's not retardedly overpriced just because of the name on the box.
