Oddball/weird gutiars?

Re: Oddball/weird gutiars?

lol I doubt he'd do it, and I know I don't want it! :)

He's got a cool story about the 'Pearly Gates' and Billy Gibbons too, but I'll save that for later.

Here's the oddest one I've owned, carved with glass eyes:

Re: Oddball/weird gutiars?

Wow, this might just be game, set and match. That's hands-down the creepiest guitar I've ever seen. Do you know the history behind it?

It's a one-off Schecter based on their Avenger body style, they call it the "ICU-7". It was built as a NAMM show piece a few years ago then migrated back to Schecter's facility where it hung on the wall of an executive's office for a couple of years prior to being released to a dealer. Steve McSwain (of MsSwain Guitars) is responsible for the carving & eyeballs though I've noticed that he's not proud enough of this one to show it on his site. :) It's been featured in at least one of their catalogs and a few advertisements. Beyond that, nope, no clue as to any other history. :D

Huh, I wasn't gonna post it since I hardly found it weird enough but after the 1000eyes I think 1 more won't hurt...:

Re: Oddball/weird gutiars?

Post em up. Somebody started this over on the HFC and I thought it was a cool idea. Tiescos/Vantages/Corts/Hondos/Italian-stuff/cheapos/underappreciated American stuff...bring it!

Gibson V90: 24 frets, 25.5 scale, mahogany/maple/ebony, Steinberger leg rest, tummy cut, factory Floyd, H/S config, vol/tone/3way w/ bridge coil splitter. All that's stock. Now it's lost the tone control and had a P90 in the neck, as well as probably the ugliest HS repair known to man. 4k? 5k? No. $200 before I destroyed the hs joint and had this repair done. At least it was a cheap repair.

Holy ****! That was my guitar! Who'd you get it from?

It's a Hohner. I contacted them to find out what it was, they said it was a made in USA prototype of a guitar they went on to produce in Korea... but they didn't make any in Blue. It is a maple body, maple neck and of course, maple board. So it's proper bright. The neck is a narrow fretboard so the strings are quite close together, the profile is a chucky boat shape. The bridge pickup is quite beefy, and if i double track it in the studio i can do the heaviest of metal riffs. The neck pickup is vintage telecaster mojo. It has binding around the body and headstock. The scale is 24.75".

I love it. But i'm thinking of getting some custom shop Duncans in it sometime soon.

Good night that is pretty!!!!!!! If it had a bridge bucker, I would so give a left nut for one!

Re: Oddball/weird gutiars?

this one is sorta odd- 85 Les Paul, carved top, double cut, and explorer neck/headstock
A Gibson custom shop model.

Re: Oddball/weird gutiars?

One of my favorite post-rock bands uses that Ovation Viper! Thank you for showing me the guitar!

I was literally squinting at my hdtv for hours checking out their dvd to see if I can catch a glimpse at the brand. I thought it might've been ovation, but I realized they only sell acoustics now.
