Oh Crap! My Genz Benz Broke!

Re: Oh Crap! My Genz Benz Broke!

actually i played it a couple of more times today for a total of about 2 hours and no problems what so ever. weird :nervous:

i don't know what happened, but it seems to have disappeared. i even tried to reproduce the problem but it hasn't come back. i hope it's cool. genz benz is willing to expedite a new advance replacement for this one if there's a problem. i'm going ot take it in tomorrow anyway just to be on the safe side.

ah, good old skim reading, eh? -I thought you were after an OT. Power transformers aren't much of a concern tonewise. A stock Marshall one should be fine. Heyboer also do great stuff and are cheaper than Mercury.

I've heard Heyboer's are really good from our own Scott_F. There's also one at Antique Electronic Supply but I don't know the brand. Just says it's a direct Marshall replacement. Thanks for the input, I appreciate it.

BB, definitely get that thing looked at. Like you said, better safe than sorry. Hopefully it's nothing serious.

actually, i've been using it for a couple of days and no problem what so ever. it's been rockin like a hurricane and i haven't even had a hiccup yet. i'm going to give it about another week and see what happens. so far so good though, nad i can't be happier because i love this amp.

it's a very thick sounding amp. i don't have to try to thicken it up, it's just thick on it's own. i'm going to post some clips this weekend

Re: Oh Crap! My Genz Benz Broke!

Ya know, I was thinking about this yesterday. Since it's not the power tranny (obviously), I wonder if a bug got in there and decided to take a nap across some high voltage leads. Your amp may have cooked it up and acted funny until it was "done"...LOL. It can happen and has to a buddy of mine. Nothin' like the smell of a well done roach.

Re: Oh Crap! My Genz Benz Broke!

i'm wondering if something got shaken up during the shipping. once the little thing in my reverb tube was kind of stuck to the side after a short car trip. i flicked the little tube and it jangled back into place and was perfectly fine after that. i'm thinking it's probably something like that.

it's hard to imagine anything being wrong with this amp because it's obviously painstankenly built to be reliable. it's built like a friggin tank.

Off-topic but funny side story anyway. I was watching our new DLP TV the other day when I noticed a fly walking across the screen. I got up to swat it away and realized it was walking on the inside of the screen. :smack:
