OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

Re: OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

Shoulda waited till your stuff sold, though, as wifey agreed to. Emergencies pop up out of the blue, which is why they're called emergencies.

As well, there's no guarantee your stuff will sell.

I know, that's why I did a "really bad thing". Stuff sells though. Some takes longer than others, but I've never not sold something I wanted to sell. I'm patient that way. It nearly took me three months to sell my Agile AL-3100 for the price I wanted, but I got it. I try to go more through Craigslist now because here in NJ, the instruments section is free. It takes way longer to sell your stuff, but eBay and their listing fees, then 9%, plus 3% Paypal is too much. One or the other yes, but both take too big a chunk out of what you're selling when it's a high dollar item. IMO. True, it goes to a waaaaaay bigger market, but I'm getting a little tired of shipping and the problems associated with that as well.

Re: OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

I dunno man... being she gave you the green light after your stuff sold seems like it would really chap her butt to have you do it anyways. I mean lets be serious its an Epiphone not only that but its a current model. I think I would just plan on being in the dog house for awhile this little maneuver is gonna leave a mark.

Hell hang out for 3 months and sell your stuff and pick one up used for half that.

Why the hatin' on the Epis? For the most part, yeah, I don't like the Epiphones, but I've played the Traditional Pro and it's a great guitar, and this is basically the same guitar with a different top and a Floyd. And a crap Epi bridge pickup. Neck isn't so bad, although that will get swapped as well.

Call me out all you want but DON'T HATE ON THE AXE, BEYOCHES!

Re: OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

Its not hate its reality theres nothing rare or hard to find about it. Its not like it was a once in a lifetime oppurtunity. Doesnt matter that its epiphone it could have been an Ibanez or an LTD. The point is you would have been able to find another one at a later time it wasnt going to be "the one that got away"

Re: OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

I agree with UberMetalDood and Edgecrusher.

Re: OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

I've had a couple of wives. Could never keep any gear, even cheap stuff, cause they always needed more than I had. Didn't matter if I made $200 a week or $2000, it was never enough to keep em' happy. I went for years with no guitar and if I did score one, it would be weeks til it was gone.

I've been single for almost 2 years now. In that 2 years I've aqquired Gibsons, Marshalls, pedals, guns, pretty much whatever I wanted and still have enough left over to stay drunk as hell most of the time.

If I were you, I'd buy 3 more Epis and some beer and see how things play out.

Re: OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

Well, you bastardos made me feel so guilty that I told my wife that I bought the guitar. Who has a spare room that me and the frying pan stuck to my head can stay in for a few weeks? :cool2:

Ha ha, she was cool. She said she just knew I was going to buy it and made me swear never to do it again. I promised that I would not do it until I at least had a job. She wasn't going to kill me over it because when our business tanked, I sold well over thirty grand worth of vintage musical equipment and cars and parts to keep us going while we had no income. Since then, I haven't bought anything without selling something to pay for most or all of it, so she was cool with this.

Oh and Ubermetaldude, Jolly, Edgecrusher, she likes you guys and says that I should listen to you. I told her that I would LISTEN, but I would do what LUCID advised, lol. She didn't laugh, which made me laugh harder. All in all, a very good July 3rd in the Russo household.

Well cool she was good with it... Much better than shacking up with Rosie on the couch for a couple weeks.

Re: OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

I'm glad to hear it all worked out. Next time you do it (and we know there will be a next time :naughty:), get an Edwards Les Paul. Congrats on the new gear.

Re: OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

I didn't read any of the thread, but that is the weirdest looking Tune-O-Matic I have ever seen.

Re: OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

LOL...

Beautiful guitar man.

And yeah... Ebay is EVIL-bay. Probably worse than Facebook for causing marital stress in guitar player households. It's truly like a drug for some. I come and go. I've done like 50 transactions in the past year, but ZERO for the past several months (thank goodness).

At any rate, do what you gotta do to make it right and don't sweat it too much. I'm the LAST guy who should be preaching about stuff like this... although thankfully both me and my wife are employed and my selfish deeds are less of a threat to the family because of that.

Whoah... your wife sounds like my wife! VERY COOL, patient and understanding. My wife has certainly given me the business from time to time, but also has truly surprized me with her loving patience when I completely screwed the pooch. Made me all "misty-eyed" when she did that and strengthened my resolve to put her FIRST after my stupidity. Tell your wife that she's a keeper and you're lucky to have her. That's truly how I feel about my wife every day...

Re: OMG, I did a REALLY bad thing last night.....

Just an update...as of last night, I sold enough stuff to cover the cost of both this new Epi and the Agile I got on Saturday. Woo Hoo! Unfortunately, I had to part ways with the new Fernandes Ravelle goldtop I got a month or so ago, and THAT hurt because it really was a great guitar, but I made money on it.

According to Fedex, I should be getting this Epi today or tomorrow. I'm just worried that it's going to be a letdown after getting this Agile which is just an incredible guitar. We shall see.
