OMG...I got it bad...

Re: OMG...I got it bad...

That's wrong in all the right ways.

Re: OMG...I got it bad...

Been wanting a Gibby and was watching older Studio LPs then I ran across this '88 SG 90 Double Project.

Ah come on, we deserve more pictures than just one, don't we?

Re: OMG...I got it bad...

Oh man. I've been thinking about that SG for about a week. I thought I was going crazy. I remember those from 90 or 91. I think there was a stop bar version also. There was one at my favorite now defunct music store. It sat there for the longest time. I think my friend bought it, or put down money on one. Then I left for school and he joined the army and I never played it. But holy fu@k there it is. I'm glad I'm not totally crazy. That looks awesome. And I'm kind of jealous.

Re: OMG...I got it bad...

That is awesome. Forgot how much I'd like one of those.

Re: OMG...I got it bad...

Cool, always liked those, particularly the inlays, ebony, and 24 frets.

I take it that the Floyd has been retrofitted later; iirc, the non-hardtail ones came with some kind of Steinberger trem.

Reckon something like a StraBro 90 in the neck would be sweet...

Thanks! You're absolutely correct on the Steinberger and retro-fitting of the Floyd. Was actually considering a '79 DiMarzio SDS-1 for the Neck Position.

Re: OMG...I got it bad...

Hm, must've needed a short custom block so it wouldn't stick out the back.

SDS 1 would work as well :). P90 vibe + SG = killer.

Re: OMG...I got it bad...

How do you like the 25.5" scale length? I love Gibsons with a longer scale neck. I know most people think it is all wrong, but man does it feel oh so right! :32:

Re: OMG...I got it bad...

Presume it's a 32mm...waiting on it's arrival...it originally had a Steinberger KB-X Tremolo, but I suppose a Floyd can work on an SG ala the SG Diablo Tremolo Model with Floyd?

As I'm waiting on this one, I can comment on the 25.5" Scale, as I have a LTD KH-503 which is basically a LP w/Floyd Copy that is 25.5 and it's just fine.

Re: OMG...I got it bad...

That's a cool model, the SG-Z. I've never seen one with a Floyd before. They usually had the lightning bolt tail piece.

I'm used to that feel too, since one of my main guitars is an SG Diablo with that electronic layout and 24 frets. I like 24 frets on an SG, because it fills the gap that the 22 fret model has, and it also adds mass to the heel so it flexes less.

Here's the bridge it usually came with

^^ Yah!

Forgot to add, side jack ftw! Hate the normal way on SGs - right next to the tone control, wtf?

Re: OMG...I got it bad...

I'd throw there Stra-Bro 90 and Brobucker...

...Just sayin'...

I hear you...but I've got a set of 3 '79 DiMarzio SDS-1 Single Coils (think P90), a '79 Fender Stratocaster Bridge Grey Bottom Single Coil, two matched sets of Gibson (Bill Lawrence) "The Original" HB-R/HB-L Humbuckers (1 Chrome/1 Gold), a SD JBJ (MJ), a SD Invader (MJ), a SD Dimebucker, and, a SD Custom Shop RTM at my disposal so I really cannot justify buying any addl pickups! ;)

Thanks. The one I'm waiting on is actually a SG 90 Double; similar but different.
