All I can say is Oh My God(dess :laugh2:)!!!

(CAUTION:The text bellow is a semi-senseless rant on how amazing the new Tech I found is and how amazing he turned my 2000 MiM Strat, you are free to scroll bellow to the good stuff!!! (a.k.a. the Pics ;))
Rant mode on:
This guy is nothing short of an artist, a guitar Jesus (I apologize to the more religious of the group), bringing guitars from the dead like Lazarus, only better and badder than ever!!!

Some will probably remember the love/hate MiM thing I had up till now.
One beautiful day I went to have its' frets leveled/re-crowned/whatever and ended up buying the Marlin, his personal (handmade) guitar (as seen bellow). After falling in love with it I had all but forgotten about the Strat (as in, I left it at his store until I could pay him for the restoration/resurrection).
Some days ago I FINALLY received my long overdue (the local dealer's fault and not SDs whatsoever) Crazy 8!!!:firedevil
Today I went and bought a cheap HSS guard and a 500K CTS Audio pot and went to the tech. Turned out the pickguard wasn't even close to fitting ANY Fender (it probably was a replacement for a Blade or sth).
Not despairing (and after taking my permission to route/drill as he'd see fit) he completely rewired the poor thing and installed the Crazy 8.
What I soon discovered was that not only the Crazy 8 is a kickass pickup, this guy had performed nothing short of a miracle on the Strat.
It felt and sounded 10x better than at its' very best!
As for the Crazy 8, it actually is fatter at this Maple neck/fretboard (and apparently poplar bodied) strat than a Schecter pickup the thick Rosewood fretboard/Bubinga bodied Marlin has!!!
I'm talking fatness in the best way possible.
Even he himself was pretty amazed at how well it bonded with the Strat (and warned me to not even consider putting it at the Marlin or I'd have the darkest Bridge configuration there probably is...)
/Rant mode off (phew!)
ON WITH THE SHOW!!!

Here's how it USED to be:

And here's how it currently is!

And here's a group picture!!!
The one on the left is the Marlin (the guitar he made for him but I ended up with:9:) which I honorary named Marleen (I know, you're amazed at the inspiration I had when I named it)
On the right the Strat sports a brand new (and great matching albeit cheap) pickguard and wiring that consists of a Master Volume (500K Audio CTS), a Master Tone (250K Audio CTS) and a switch that when up it splits the Crazy 8 and activates the neck pickup regardless of teh 5-way.
Simple, to the point and deadly effective!!!

You know that saying "He who loses at cards wins at love?"
Well, with me it appears the "He who loses at love wins at guitars" fits me better (ever since I broke up I've been getting one guitar-related goodness after another:34:)

Looks great but I would have taken the plastic off the guard.

Re: OMG! Look who's back from the dead (very PIC heavy;))

Me too, but it took the tech so much time to get this far that he actually has left a couple of things for another time (like the treble bleed volume mod) and he suggested to keep the plastic on until then (you can't imagine how many times it protected it from solder, shavings and whatnot!)

Very beautiful strat there. I bet that Crazy pickup sounds killer.

Re: OMG! Look who's back from the dead (very PIC heavy;))

You bet it does!!!
Now after I got farily used to it at the strat I'm gonna briefly test it at Marleen and if I like it as much I'm sure gonna get another one!!!

Re: OMG! Look who's back from the dead (very PIC heavy;))

what was the dimarzio in there before?

Re: OMG! Look who's back from the dead (very PIC heavy;))

Thanks!
The Neck is the Fast Track 1, the old bridge is the Fast Track 2.
It was the fact that the Fast Track 2 wasn't enough that convinced me I needed a full fledged humbucker. And oh man, the FT2 was ok but the Crazy 8 is like nothing I've ever tried before. Really muscular but amazingly defined. Really, it's as if it was built for that particular guitar

As for the FT1, I think I'm gonna change it as well, doesn't really go that well.
It's too boomy without actually being bassy enough. It has too much of the too low lows, much mids and not enough in between...
