One guitar show type guitar playing

Ive been on leave from guitar playing since my brother's passing last month, but i started and am interested in working on new styles.

I'd like to learn how to play a more 'multitasking' type style, not just chords and leads, but something along the lines of what hendrix pulls off in little wing, that kind of comping. Or curtis mayfield type stuff, just a somewhat intricate R&B style.

Any songs I could learn besides little wing to get this style under my belt? I want song names so i can actually work on something concrete and assimilate.

Little wing is obvious.

Castles made of Sand. IMHO much harder to play

I don't remember the name of the song, but the Red Hot Chili Peppers had a couple of tunes using similar techniques.

Lenny by SRV

Rivera Paradise also by SRV

All the recommended songs will help. ^

It'll also help to know a little bit of theory, how chords are constructed, inversions and where they are on the neck :)

I just looked at the threads you started, and didn't see anything about your brother. I'm not trying to pry or derail the thread, but what happened?
