opened the box of the Laney today...

This is why I mark anything of value like this, whether it be an amp or guitar, as FRAGILE! It's amazing how differently they'll handle a box marked FRAGILE.

You're right, but what can I do? I'm not sending it to myself :laugh2: But this shop really seems SO unprofessional..

First it takes two weeks for me to get it, and they guaranteed it would take 1week.. Then their excuse is that the driver had an accident, OK, I can live with that.. But then it arrives with a broken tube, and I contact them via email... They never answered, my father then called them, they didn't pick up the phone, not even after countless calls, my father then faxed them, but never got an answer on that either..

Then I simply started to send them countless emails, every day, where I stated that I wanted them to call my father, at first they didn't, then I continued, and I guess they got the point that I couldn't just be ignored away, and they called him.

Then we got a hold of a shopworker called "Ewald", he told us to send the tube to them, and then they would send it to the Laney factory, and they would send me a new tube. Ok, we did, and then 3 weeks later, we hadn't received any answer or tubes yet. Then once again, my father emailed them, and suddenly some other marketing dude called "Kjell" started interfering, telling us that they couldn't give us any new tubes, because the tube we send was broken.. (?? makes no sense, that was the whole point)

And then we send an email to the guy called "Ewald" again (that's the guy we had an agreement with at first) and once again we get an answer from this "Kjell" douchebag, telling us to send the whole amp back, and like that wasn't enough, he claimed that he had send my father an email long ago when they received the tube, where he had wrote that we had to send the whole amp, but when my father asked him to send a copy of that email, he never received any copy or answer regarding the copy.

So today we send the amp back, and it was ****ing expensive..I have to use alot of money because they are douchebags..It costed us 78 american dollars, and that's even with a discount.

Never deal with www.music-town.de europeans..I'm warning you, they might have free shipping, but it's worth nothing when you get this kind of trouble, All this **** alone has taken a whole month, with all their ignoring and changing rules.

Re: opened the box of the Laney today...

Ask for a full refund and get it from another dealer. I wouldn't even continue any futher with them without speaking directly to someone in charge.

I'm not sure they would even give me a refund, I wouldn't count on it with this company. I'm not sure I even can, you know, you only have a certain period where you can return it, and this whole thing has taken a month because of their ****ty service. :blackeye:

Re: opened the box of the Laney today...

Man that sure sucks... this is why I wouldn't like to get an amp shipped to me... fortunately I live in a city with enough music stores

Be persistant. The fact that they haven't done anything to help you in a month and haven't shown proof otherwise doesn't make it look good for them. If you're persistant enough and talk to someone in authority there, you can get your money back, if that's what you want to do.

Re: opened the box of the Laney today...

Well, I hope I'll just get a new amp that works, and then have no further problems, and I'll leave them in the past and not deal with them anymore.

Well, it is not used, it is completely new, I am just worrying about the re-bias thingie.. if I need to get it biased because I change out one tube, or them all, I would need a tech, and there's no way I want to pay for something I didn't do..

Laney's are known for arriving with broken tubes. It's one of the reasons Marshall's sold in the USA used to arrive with the 6550 tubes....the EL34s were fragile and kept breaking during shipping.

I know it's a little late, but I'd just retube it yourself. For what you paid to ship it back you could've had a new set of tubes in it already.

Also, Laney's are self-biasing.

FWIW, the reason I got the Laney Iommi I have so cheap is that Musicians Friend sold it to a friend of mine as a "damaged" amp due to arriving at their warehouse with broken tubes. They retubed it and sold it to him cheap. He later sold it to me, and when I pulled the chassis to take those pics for you I found it still had glass all in the underside. I cleaned it up, stuck the chassis back in the cabinet, and it's continued to worked fine.

well, it would be easy yes, if they had just send the tubes as we had arranged in the vfirst place, so I wouldn't have to pay the tubes, but then suddenly they changed their minds.

Re: opened the box of the Laney today...

It is likely that being a reseller that they have to have the whole amp back if anything at all is wrong. Likely an all or nothing warranty. Like Walmart, if anything is broken, no matter how small. They take it back.

If it was purchased from an amp shop, they would have sent you a new quad to make you happy, or happier.

Hopefully it hasn't turned you against Laney. It will be an exciting amp when you get it Sune.

PS. It's a "fixed bias" amp, meaning it needs to be biased.

EDIT: How did you pay for it Sune? Cash, credit card?

Save all your emails, all correspondence.

No, this doesn't turn me away from Laney, because I think all this mess is the shop's fault, not Laney's. I still want the amp really badly, but this shop's service is really annoying. I payed for it by a bank transfer, you know, transferring the money from one account to the other, and I have saved all our conversations so far.

Re: opened the box of the Laney today...

Good. Now, if you can, send them a note telling them that you want the tubes removed from the replacement, if they are sending you a replacement, and packaged separately. If they don't understand this or don't wish to comply with this simple request, get your money back and shop elsewhere. Those kind of shops aren't worth dealing with. I know either way you won't be doing business with them anymore.

Re: opened the box of the Laney today...

That is a good idea Erik, I will tell my father to speak with them about that, since he is better at speaking german than I am.

Re: opened the box of the Laney today...

sorry to hear that man.
When Murphy visits things do suc*s.
I'm sure there is a warranty for the tube replacement.

Re: opened the box of the Laney today...

Well, there is a warranty.. But I hope we can tell them what Erik said and that they will do it, or else we can end up with the same problem one more time.
