Orange AD30TC

Worth it? I'm still looking for a new amp, and these seem to be nice. Does anybody own one? What kind of music are they best for?

Re: Orange AD30TC

They can be used for anything, but they tend to be popular with people looking for a classic rock/metal vibe (70s classic, not 80s classic).

They're pretty popular amongst the doom/stoner crowd.

They don't have alot of gain on their own, but sound really good when pushed by an overdrive. They're naturally somewhat dark sounding (hence their popularity with the doom metal crowd) and they sound killer with fuzz (hence their popularity with the stoner crowd). Very British sounding, without sounding like a Marshall.

Eh, the 5150, like most Peaveys, is made for much heavier music than my taste. When I say bright mod-rock, I mean I guess what modern-day "hipster" would be. I think I might go with a Vox AC30, quite a few of the bands that I like are using them, and I've read good things. I might see if the local shop here can order one that I can try out.

So, sorta like indy and stuff like that?

Yeah, Vox would be a good choice. An Orange would be a good choice if you were backing up a guitarist who was rocking a Vox (the two combine well on stage). Hiwatt, Marshall (particularily a Plexi and/or JTM45) and most Fenders would also work.

Wish I could think of more, but bright sounding mid-gainers are really my forte.
