I don't think more speakers is louder, no. A bigger cab with more speakers does sound "bigger", but the wattage the amp is putting out is spread on to the several speakers, so each speaker has less watts moving it. If you're running a 1x12, yes, it will sound smaller, yes, it won't "fill the room" as nicely as a 4x12, yes, there will probably be more speaker breakup than with a 4x12, and yes, the tone will probably be less "spread out" than with a 4x12, but it can get loud, especially if you bring it closer to ear level by putting it on a chair or table or angling it upwards.
That being said, though, a bigger cab will sound more "metal", lol, but if portability is an issue, a 1x12 will get the job done.
I don't think there is a set rule as to wether 8 or 16 ohms versions of the same speaker sound louder. Usually 8 ohms sound a tad less bright, but that has more to do with how the output transformer is set on each amp to adjust to the speaker load. Tube amps are NOT like solid state amps that are more efficienty when they see less ohms.Does more speakers make you louder?
Because the amount of watt doesn't change. Doesn't the power just spread to more speakers changing the tone but not volume?
If I am going to get a 1x12 should I get 8 ohms or 10 ohms speaker? Does it matter?
