orange of Marshall...

I'mn looking at a new amp...mostly for good crunch tones...right now it's looking like a

-Marshall JMP 50 watt

-Marshall DSL 50 watt

-Orange Rockerverb 50 watt

Ideas???

I don't know anything about JMP's, but as we all know the DSL's have quite the reputation for amazing tone.

that's where Im leaning right now...but the new Orange looks good to me...I love 6V6's...but most of the time a 6V6 amp is around 20 watts...this one is closer to 40, and uses 6V6's... But in truth I belive that a 50 Non MV 4 hole Marshall is inthe top 10 amps of all time!

Orange makes some kicka** stuff IMO. Their amps and cabs are built like a tank.

if you want reliability, watch your back with a DSL. i've had to take mine back under warranty, but that was only a DSL401.. also the OD sounds can get a bit buzzy on the 50's IMO

man, get the JMP - thats one big loud box of crunch :laugh2:

I'd go either Orange or old Marshall, both are great, not so sure about the new marshalls though...

REach out to Wattage on this Forum. I believe he has or just sold a Orange AMp. He can tell you a lot about them!

My friend had a JMP at one point. I spent many an afternoon in his basement just listening in awe at the amazing crunch that came out of that thing.

I am now in a state of catatonic shock .... :32: As another 6V6 fan I'm pretty disapointed with the lack of "high-er" gain 6V6 amps (basically limited to the Laney AOR 30's). Tube Driven F/X Loop ... mmmm

I wonder .... maybe I should start playing the lottery

Thats what I said...Ilove the tone of 6V6's but most of the time they only come in pairs(18-22 watts) and most of the time they are in a Fender type amp which is not made with highgain crunch in mind!!! I think I might LOVE this amp!

Hey Chuck, how's the AOR working?


Back 2 the track: I'd personally go with the DSL because I like modern Marshall tones. And as it was said, never be afraid of a tranny upgrade

I managed to try one out but never got a good feel for it at working volumes (stores) but clean wise I was stupidly expecting something a little more American ... I think I might hold off for a while. Didn't really have a sturdy feel to it, but there's an online S/H shop that has 2 for around $300 US ... but you cen the benefit of a cascading preamp and no tube rectifier. I want to wait 'til I move before I get another amp as the neighbors have been getting upset about the music (thin walls) so I'll stick with the Line 6 for now

I'll see what the prices are for the Orange and if it's reasonable I'll see if I can give it a try and hopefully like it. I'm really interested in the clean channel

I see. The AOR has a pretty decent clean sound in its own way but it has nothing to do with them magnificent Fenders: primarily it was built for scortching & rumble. The Orange has pretty nice cleans (at least the AD heads I've heard in-touch) but it's very British as well. And, for a 30 watter, loud as hell. If neighbours complain, just crank the amp and blow them heads off
