P-base project

I got a Squier P Bass in exchange for some work, and it actually has a really good neck. I didn't even touch the frets. I bought a GFS hot Jazz pickup for the bridge and routed it. I also ordered a black pickguard and some white covers for the neck pickup. I may install the Duncan active EQ, because I heard it sounds pretty transparent and doesn't make the pickups sound active.

Wow! What a cool idea! Do you like the sound? I dig strange, functional designs.

It's not really weird from a guitar player's standpoint. I just applied the tele/strat idea hoping it would work. It did.

That's hawt. Are the pups fairly close as far as volume? I have a P/J and mine are fine (especially since the 30-year old foam under the pups are all compressed, gotta fix that) A friend has a MIA P that he had a J pup added, and the P pup seems twice as loud.

I got a 10k J pup knowing the ceramic P pup would be pretty loud, so they match well.

Cool story rumblebox , nice how you snagged it . Nice job on the install too .

So - - - What's the verdict , was it an improvement to your liking ?

A friend had one just like your's at his business for weeks and offered it to me for $100.00
I passed on it saying I already had a great synth bass in my midi guitar set up and didn't need one
- - - a few weeks later I see it's neck has been taken off  , he looked really mad and he offers
it to me for $50.00 .... I asked why so cheap and he said it had a warped and twisted neck .

I stalled him for two weeks and saw it there again gathering dust so , I offered :

$40.00 -

Walked away with it - took out the twist and warp little by little in a two month period .

It is a great playing bass , got the action nice and low - you gave me an idea to try now thanks .IMG_0671.JPG

That vid was hip & helpful :headbang: right on man :smoker: .

If you could possibly post a sound clip of the difference between the two that would be hip & helpful :headbang: .

Bass_Medic_05

Timely post - I'm about to do some maintenance on my Pbass Squire too . Maybe I make that mod this time around -

:argh:
I busted off the ground wire to the bridge , so it's either a rewire or a spliced solder joint on that ground wire .
I have the incentive - I have a midi/audio interface flying in on Saturday heh heh heh .

Shout out to Rumble :
¿ Howzit working ?
