P- Rails - Wiring with a rotary switch?

Re: P- Rails - Wiring with a rotary switch?

I found in this thread some very intersting schematics so after many studies I develop my wiring project for JB & 59.

This is a mixed version of some Hermetico's diagrams.
My idea is to use two rotary switch to obtain the six sounds from both pickups, and put them in parallel/series and in/out of phase with two push pull. At last I use a traditional switch to select neck, bridge or both pickups.:eyecrazy:
I don't know if it will work ... but I'm sure there is something wrong.:scratchch
Can someone please analyze it and tell me something about?
Thanks in advance.:)

Re: P- Rails - Wiring with a rotary switch?

If position 4 is parallel HB, you might have to connect poles 3 and 4 on the right side. otherwise the red and black wired won't make their connection. I'm not quite sure how the out of phase options should work. I never got them to work that well on mine. (The black wire being hard wired directly in and out of the main lug is questionable too. I think you need it going to ground for the out of phase options. But, I'm definitely no expert.)

In general I found the rotaries too much of a pain in the ass to troubleshoot. But I guess if you have a signal tester and a fair amount of patience, it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks Lyongraulty! What do you think about the connections between:
1. the neck's rotary and the volume p/p?
2. the bridge's rotary and the tone p/p?

Thanks Lyongraulty! What do you think about the connections between:
1. the neck's rotary and the volume p/p?

Looks like the hot is going to the right place but the green wire should go to the middle left lug on p/p. And the left lug of the volume should get it's own ground to the base. Also on this p/p you forgot to connect the input jumper on the top left lug (hot from the bridge pickup.)

2. the bridge's rotary and the tone p/p?

The missing hot lead should be coming from the top right lug of the tone push pull. And you need to put a lead to ground from the top left lug in order for the phaser to work correctly.

The way the tone is set up works well as a master tone, but I just realized that you're going for a master volume too. The way you have it now, the volume will only affect the neck pup. master volume must go after the pickup selector too - just like the tone.

Good luck - Let me know how it all works out!

Re: P- Rails - Wiring with a rotary switch?

Thanks for all Lyon!:)
I hope to do the wiring in this week-end.
It's been very hard work, but it will be worth it (I hope...):scratchch
Sure I'll tell you if and how it all works out.
