Re: PAF Pro vs. Super Distortion vs. SD ?
Yeah, I agree with Ace, DMZ has lots of different models of pickups, the ones that you hear about most are the "soloist's" models. IMO, the Norton is the most versatile bridge humbucker they make. I use/have used as many DMZs as I have Duncans. It kinda depends on the guitar to me. As a general rule, at least for humbuckers, I think DiMarzios sound more modern and Duncans have more of a vintage vibe, but there are exceptions to those rules.
I have a Tone Zone and Air Norton with the original Ibz sc in the middle in my RG550XX, I have a JB with a A2 magnet in my mongrel "charvel" all maple, one pickup beast, and I have 2 SD custom single coils and a B&B L500-Xl in my Washburn N6, supposedly the singles are custom for this guitar, but I think they are based on the SSL-1s. My Orville LPC has it's original pickup in the neck, and, according to the guy I bought it from, the bridge pickup is from an old Ibanez Paul Stanley model. It sounds pretty good, when I get some extra change I might put some other pups in it, not sure what though. Maybe a Custom or JB/'59 combo, or maybe a Norton/Air Classic. Really not sure yet.
