PAF Pro! Can't go wrong with a vintage tone. I play blues & classic rock, and have yet to play a ceramic magnet PU that sounded anywhere as good as an alnico (so that's a big "NO" for the Super Distortion).

I really can't see how these two can be compared seeing as they are completely different beasts but... I haven't actually have hands-on experience on the SD, just from the gazillion 80s guitarists that used it but the PAF Pro... the best way to try and make a Strat-like guitar sound like a bluesy LP...
Interestingly enough it also makes for a really good overdriven tone. Not super hot (obviously) but chunky.

Is it just me who thinks that DiMarzio only works for single note instrumentalists ???? When it comes to hook/riff that carries the tune i.e. a song, DiMarzio just lacks balls and personality ... I dont know ...

It's just you.

If I could only have one pup, Super D would be it - but that's a personal preference for tone and style of playing.

The best ball around pup - If I could only have one pup but needed to play all kinds of stuff - PAF Pro all the way.

That said - I'd rather have SD's usually than DiMarzios.I prefer the DD, The PG, and CC to either of those...

Yeah, I agree with Ace, DMZ has lots of different models of pickups, the ones that you hear about most are the "soloist's" models. IMO, the Norton is the most versatile bridge humbucker they make. I use/have used as many DMZs as I have Duncans. It kinda depends on the guitar to me. As a general rule, at least for humbuckers, I think DiMarzios sound more modern and Duncans have more of a vintage vibe, but there are exceptions to those rules.

I have a Tone Zone and Air Norton with the original Ibz sc in the middle in my RG550XX, I have a JB with a A2 magnet in my mongrel "charvel" all maple, one pickup beast, and I have 2 SD custom single coils and a B&B L500-Xl in my Washburn N6, supposedly the singles are custom for this guitar, but I think they are based on the SSL-1s. My Orville LPC has it's original pickup in the neck, and, according to the guy I bought it from, the bridge pickup is from an old Ibanez Paul Stanley model. It sounds pretty good, when I get some extra change I might put some other pups in it, not sure what though. Maybe a Custom or JB/'59 combo, or maybe a Norton/Air Classic. Really not sure yet.
