Painful case of GAS from a Les Paul

Re: Painful case of GAS from a Les Paul

WTF made you guys raise this thread from the dead? For the record it was $2300 at final negotiation. I traded some other axes also - the last of my non-pauls. I've owned that guitar since a couple of days after the Simon's post...

Jaci - 1973 Tobacco Sunburst. PAF neck, Superdistortion bridge.

Tards...pay attention! You guys should know this!!!

after what Jeff said there was NO WAY that guitar was not going home with me

The disadvantages of reading the forum with the "new posts" functionality only :)

Nice guitar.

Re: Painful case of GAS from a Les Paul

That's what I'm talking about. You're right about the pancake...once you load that with Super D's, it won't make any difference. The most important thing is that it fits your hand like a glove, and feels like the first set of boobies you ever touched. If that's the case...drop the $$ and don't look back brutha.

Meh, the first set of chesticles I ever touched weren't fantastic looking back, but at the time they were the greatest things in the world:cool:

Thats an awesome Les Paul Aceman. A friend of mine has a 74(I believe, or 76) Les Paul Standard the same color. its a cool axe.

Re: Painful case of GAS from a Les Paul

Im guessing that everytime you play this one, it brings back pleasant mammeries!!! :laugh2:

Sorry to feed into this old thread, but I had to say nice axe! Is it still feeling great? Also, if Id have named a guit after an old flame, it would end up broken or pawned one day while I was at work..

Dude.. if someone broke or pawned my guitar I would be P***ED!

Oh, and whats up with all this talk of pancakes?

Re: Painful case of GAS from a Les Paul

I probably have played that guitar more than any of my others for the past two years. It's just fantastic. I will always have (If I have any say about it) The 79 and that guitar. Those would be all I'd ever really need. That Tobacco was in pristine condition too. Can't tell from the photos but it really looks as if played for a few months then boxed and stored.

Re: Painful case of GAS from a Les Paul

I'm pretty sure the Pancake bodies didn't start until alittle later then 73.... but ya $3000 is quite high for what i'd be willing to pay for a 73.... unless it really is like new then maybe.. but in my case it would have to be a 73 Goldtop Deluxe in dead Mint condition

I had a 73 custom....maple neck and a pancake body.

Man, did tht guitar suck. Put me off Gibson for 15 years.

Re: Painful case of GAS from a Les Paul

Nice ya found yourself a keeper, looks cherry! I had a great '70 black LP Custom I played for 10 years, sold it in 1990, the year I bought my house as I kinda gave up playing music. Still kicking myself, got 800 bucks for it AND my BF Deluxe Reverb...douh! At least I'm still in my home.

Awesome man:friday:

I honestly couldn't tell ya wgat 2 guitars I would hold onto.. All of mine are special to me for different reasons. But for playability, I'd probably have to go with my 86 Kramer and my RR5.

Can someone explain this pancake body thing to me?

Re: Painful case of GAS from a Les Paul

Ahhh. 12 pound Bowling Balls. Massive epoxied Pancaked bodies... Maple necks. Everything a les Paul Should never be. I'll pass.
